August 28th

Hi ya'll
We had our usual coffee and donuts and conversation this morning, 32 or so were there and The Farley's provided them.
Tonight Bobby Thomas is grilling hot dogs and we will bring a side dish. Just got done making my potato salad and a few deviled eggs.
Well, it's still very dry here, the spotty showers missed us, but tomarrow may bring a little rain, we will see. The yards look pretty bad, hopefully the next rain we get will keep them from dying. We are only to water on certain days, our address being 715 makes us only to water on certain days of the week and before 10:00 a.m. Getting pretty bad!
Sorry to post this so late in the day but I was busy this morning. After donuts I took Junior, our dog to the Vet in Edinburg. He tested positive for this infection caused by a brown tick bite. His kidneys were not functioning right he was anemic, blood count off and you name it,he has been on an antibiotic for 1 month now, he acts like his old self now but still doesnt have the appetite he had. Well, the Vet is quite positive he is ok now. Checked him over quite thoroughly and said he doesnt need any more antibiotics and so I hope it's over with... had me scared!
Connie said that they moved the little shed back behind the coral they just built by the 99 showers, getting ready to start work on the work shed. I commented on how nice the windows and doors looked as Javier washed all the doors and window screens in the pool room and lobby, yesterday, makes the whole room look cleaner!Names of cards Beverly sent:

August 21st

Look what we are having tomarrow morning...omelets in a bag!
Bobby and I and Duffy's are cooking omelets in a zip-lock bag, in the morning. Bobby is making biscuits and toast. I am sure it will be good!
We had 35 for donuts this morning with Coxley/Maxson providing them. after I left the folks who bought Katy's mobile came in, the Norris's. also Earl Dowells son Louie came , he's staying with his Dad until the 5th of Sept. Kay Gibson is back she had been gone about 2 months.
Connie was there. She said the new work shed will be a little larger than originally planned,20 by 24ft. They're doing leveling of some gravel in the storage area. a few other things mentioned but I forgot what. :-S
It's so dry here, it's like walking on shredded wheat when you walk on some of them. trees really need the water.
Our dog Junior who tested positive for a disease spread by a brown dog tick, seems to be doing alot better, better appetite, more energetic, not as depressed,
so hopefully he will make it through this.
I will post more later. Until next time....;)

Barn Quilt Pictures

More news

I just talked to Bev Ostrander to see who all she sent cards to while we were gone,
Rex Arrowsmith, former resident had heart surgery
Monica Kline, fell
Marie Slycord, tests
D. Ratliff, former resident, stroke
Ken Cook, had hip surgery
Penny Rush, tests
Josie Miller, hip surgery

Wouldn't it be cool if we all had a mobile quilt??????? It could be on a 2ft. by 2 ft. piece of plywood and you could choose a neat quilt pattern to paint on it and attach it to the mobile or a stand in front or something. We were talking about it at the campout.

Friday August 14th

Hello everyone!
We had our usual Friday donuts with the Floyds providing them, it's their 54th Wedding anniversary today!
As some of you know, Paul Turner passed away while we were gone, his boys and one daughter-in-law were here with him, also a very good friend of mine, Shirley Julian from Woodstock Ont. passed away suddenly, I will get a list from Beverly on cards she sent out besides these two.
No one from Management there. They have many projects going, making the new shed for the maintenance men, (already have a new awning in front of it),just snapped a picture of connie out at the shuffleboard court with the Asst. mgr. the rubber that is stung along the court has come loose and rusty screws sticking out and some laying along there, so they're putting in new rubber. I see there's gravel out where the storage area is, to level out, they are having to replace some posts which were damaged and pushed over some from the hurricane last Summer and have to concrete them in,also replacing bad wood in fence and power washing it and staining it again.
Since we have been gone to Iowa for the R.V.E. campout at Clermont, some of the folks here took a picnic lunch and went over to Padre and ate over there in the pavillion, went to Willie B's for B.B.Q. and they are still going to The Tex-Mex Restaurant on Thurs. morning for breakfast.
I have a slide show, just a small one of some pics from the campout, we had a great time and we were there early and it was fun to see who was coming in next, we had over 20 campers there for the whole time, we came early along with Quails and Shermans. some of the ladies went on a road trip around the area looking at all the beautiful barn quilts, then stopped for refreshments...they all purchased bright orange shirts and came back to camp looking like a bunch of construction workers lol
we also had a group go over to a riverboat casino one day. During the week in the evening we usually cooked our own meat and then brought a side dish to share, oh my too much food! Shermans provided some good ole Iowa sweet corn each night, never got enuff of that! One night The Bensons provided smoked pork loins for all of us smoked by their good friend Jake, and Sat. morning we had a real neat breakfast, we had omelets in zip lock bags which they dropped in boiling water. This was Tom and Connies idea and they provided everthing for it, cracked a couple eggs in the bag with whatever you liked in your omelet, ham, cheese, hashbrowns , what ever, than smooshed it all together, really fun. 103 year old Ruby Baechler, Mother of Tom Benson came for it along with Toms Sisters and some more family of Tom and Mary Lous.
Ruby really enjoyed that and Mary Lou says she's still smiling!!She new Bobby and I and always says "you live across from the Griffins"!
I have a picture also of some field near Clermont which were hit by baseball sized hail, not a pretty sight. I heard over 300,000 acres severely damaged by the hail, and it looked like many homes got damaged also.
But oh, the cool weather there for the whole trip was so refreshing, 50's and 60 for lows and highs 80 or so, I am ashamed to say it but we had our furnace come on in the early mornings and I wore a sweat shirt about each morning, loved it!
Our outing this year was a cruise down the Mississippi on a huge pontoon,I have just a few of those pictures on here today , I have alot more to show you later. We went through a lock and dam, and our guide explained it to us, and all along the trip he had interesting things to say and point out.We had 39 on our trip , I think.
Well, I will post more real soon as I am very busy yet, getting settled in lol
We are in a severe drouth here, yards are so brown. And temps 100 each day!

Oh it's soooo good to be home! I think it's been 3 weeks that we were gone. The first couple nights we spent in Waco visiting the daughter then on to Carroll Iowa for a few days then to Spencer for 2 days then over to the camp out at Clermont.I have a bunch of neat pictures to show you and will get a slide show on here in a day or two.
The weather was cool, 50's and 60's in the morning and 80 or so for a high, loved that! I will write more on the happenings here at the park Friday after donuts as I need to catch up on the news while we were gone.
Stay tuned!!!!
