Jan. 26th

You all are missing some beautiful weather.  You know you can quaranteen down here as well as be up there in the cold. I see lots of folks sitting out on their patios enjoying the warm weather.

Sad news was Donna Buck passed away. She fought long and hard, but Covid took her. they were on F-6, I think, last year.

we surprised Catherine Donovan on her 95th Birthday, many of us on golf carts pulled up at a certain time and we sang Happy Birthday to her.

This is a note from Catherine Donovon

Thank you, thank you, thank you! I can't thank you all enough . You made my 95th Birthday the best ever!
My Daughter asked how many cards she received, I told her I can't count that high! Atleast 150!
But the best gift of all is your friendship, hoping to be here for my next one.
Thank you to the Secret Santa who left some fleece lined socks on my doorstep
Love you all- Catherine Donovan

Former resident Harlan Haberkamp passed away. I have a card up for everyone to sign, they lived at 147, I believe over 5 years ago. Harlan's wife Virginia lives in a rest home.

Also I put up a card for Margarita Ponce, she lives at 209, her Mother passed away.

Jan. 9th

I have been getting little hints here and there that I need to post what's going on here in the park. and around town.

Note in my mailbox stating Dan and Jan Odell are quaranteened for 2 weeks, with Covid

Well, only the card room and lobby are open. Even now the door from the card room to the lobby is locked, they say a couple folks came through without a mask on.... It's weird because of the parking situation...signs saying no parking and  signs saying visitors are supposed to report to the office, but people who have problems walking can't even get close to the front door, and you can't go in the patio side entance either.

So far many restaurants are open. I went to Nancy's out on bus. 83 this morning for coffee. ( I go there almost every morning) They were told only 50% capacity now where I think it has been 75% capacity. I was over to "Dirty Als" in McAllen for shrimp, Thursday, can't say enough good about that place Also Ace's last night for their fried fish, it was excellent!. No, I don't go out every meal yesterday was an exception. Tomarrow the Elk's have their first Chicken Fry, can't wait, it is always so good, the price is $11.00 pp now and you drive up and they will give you your meal. It is for charity and all volunteer help.

We have really had a pretty mild Winter. Today is chilly, right now it's only 55 and the high was to be 70. Sun. a really cold morning in the 30's! but warming up to 70 later and tomarrow chilly again in the morning with only highs around 50. I saw on a weather station that February is to be lows of 50's highs in the mid 70's, March is to be lows of 60's and highs of 80!

There's a lot of card playing going on every night, Bean Bag played on that new golf cart parking area on the N. side of the Hall, and Shuffleboard being played also.

I never seen so dam many signs posted everwhere in the park, even the bathrooms.

Newly painted fence, 3 beautiful pots with dead plants in them? Looks nice tho with the blue paint.

K row and J row have several large motor homes on it, I think 4 on each row

Having a great time!

We aren't letting some old Virus curtail our fun here at R.V.E. That is, we are doing some of our "fun" things trying to make the best of the situation.

We are having a golf cart parade Christmas Day, we will all meet at the dog park at 4:00. We are to bring our own snacks and drink, social hour after, masks and social distancing  of course!

Texas Holden is being played and games of "Tic", and "Dummy Rummy" I see some Shuffling and Aquasizes when it's warm enough.

Line dancing was fun this a.m. it's every Tuesday and Thursday, after "Yoga"

It's a little tough doing it on carpet, but we have no choice. Why they don't have the big hall open makes me so upset, I know the Hall would have to be sanitized but that's the Parks job and our job to wear masks and keep our distance. We can use our hand sanitizer going in and coming out and wipe down any table or counter we touch
