Pedraza said the overpass that goes from Edinburg to McAllen, Direct Connector 4, is closed because of an 18-wheeler that toppled onto its side. It’s not known yet if the high winds contributed to the accident.
He added the southbound US 281/IH-69C frontage road, between Ferguson/SH 495 and the westbound US 83/I-2 frontage road, is closed until further notice. Drivers are asked to find alternate routes.
RIO GRANDE VALLEY, Texas (ValleyCentral) – Residents across the Valley are waking up to downed trees, awnings and fences after an overnight storm hit with winds of up to 80 mph.
The big issue this morning is the widespread power outages being experienced in the Upper Valley.
AEP Texas is reporting more than 100,000 customers in the Valley are without power as of 8:45 a.m. The vast majority of those outages are in Hidalgo County. The Brownsville Public Utility Board, also known as BPUB, is reporting that slightly more than 10,000 customers have no electricity.
Magic Valley Electric Coop is reporting none of its customers are having power issues.
The Texas Department of Transportation said crews are out this morning picking up debris, downed construction signs and other items from state highways.
“We ask that drivers limit their activity on the roadways this morning. We know they will be tempted to go out and drive around looking at all the damage, and there’s a lot of it. But keep the roads clear for those who need to be out there on them,” said TxDOT spokesman Ray Pedraza.
He added that drivers need to be careful because of the debris and barricades that may have been blown over.

2 mobiles lost their awnings here in the park, lots of branches and twigs all over the street, some metal and plastic lawn chairs were out in the streets.
Ambulance call at Denny Argo's he had surgery and still has some tubes in and one plugged up , also will put a card up for Karon White,#144, had a stroke. Bev Telfor , hospital.

We finally got some much needed rain. Our temps are a little cool in the mornings 60's and upper 60's, highs in the low to mid 80's. Perfect weather.
I took this after a little shower we got yesterday.
We had a great turn out for Easter I heard someone say over 90 folks attended, there were quite a few Grand kids here and the dinner was awesome. The ham was so moist and good.
Last Friday the Office furnished the donuts for our 1st Friday Coffee and Donuts. We decided 8:00 a.m. but we are still enjoying visiting passed 9:00, so I hope more of the late risers will come. I picked up the donuts at WalMart so I could get some Apple Fritters, they were fresh and mixed donuts also.

Nathan was here again this morning. He said if there's anything we would like or need here in the park to write out what we would like to purchase and to give him a note, to talk over with Walter to possibly have the park paying some on what ever we would be wanting, such as new flooring in the Quilt/Weight rooom, or whatever it may be.
There were quite a lot of people raised their hand when asked if they are leaving this week.
Sandy Olson was not present for the meeting as Wendall will be getting a new hip, he's been in the hospital and still is , a card is up for all of us to sign and also a card for Augustin and Aurora's Son fron San Antonio passed away. they are on Lot 50
Judy Greenlee has said she will do the newsletter for next Season, a computer was purchased for her to do that. Mark Probst said he would help her with this as she is not computer savvy.
Folks playing games on Sunday nights are asked to put the chairs on top of the tables as the floor will be cleaned on Monday mornings and will save Daniel O'dell time for cleaning the floor
There will be a movie Thurs. night, I thought Judy said the movie "Elvis" ??

It didnt cost the club money for icecream on Sundays as the folks who paid for their icecream covered the cost
Any food thats left in the frig needs to be taken out as they will be cleaned
I counted over 35 mailboxes wired shut, so I guess folks are heading back North.My friend Jane from Lake City, Ia said there was some snow today. we of course have been pretty warm over 85 for several days and we are in a drought , need rain badly
I put up a card for Augustin and Aurora who lived at #50 , their Son passed away
Also a card for Wendall Olson, he's in the hospital
