RVE CLUB MEETING – Chair Craig Daves called meeting to order.  Bev Telfor led “Pledge to the Flag” & singing  of “God Bless America”.  Meeting closed with singing of club song, ”We Love Our Valley Home”.

We welcomed new arrivals .. those returning from their homes up north .. or those moving into RVE as new residents.  A special welcome to Rachel who has moved into #91.
   MANAGEMENT REPORT – Asst. manager Ken Barnhart said we should ignore the nasty rumor that our park would no longer be for 55  over.....a new gate sign will be up soon.  We are reminded to turn on golf cart lights when driving after dark.  We are encouraged to use the new parking lot provided for golf carts to the north of Friendship Hall as this helps with traffic.  Ken noted some pets are on special diets so we should not throw out treats unless checking with pet owner first.  Website for park is riovalleyestates.com

   Treasurer Jim Moeller reported, approved.  Properties chair Larry Pavlis said Nativity Scene would be set up today.  If you move tables, etc. for activity, please put back where you found the items.  Green dots on wall line up with tables.

   Helen Curtis asks we call her, 603-674-3869, if we know of someone needing card due to illness/death in family.  You will find cards to sign in office area. If you call Helen & leave message, leave name.  She will not return your call if she doesn't know who left message. A card is up today to express sympathy to manager Bob & Vickie on the loss of their dog.
   Our 1st dance is Jan. 8, 7-9:30 p.m. with Roger Kenaston Band according to dance chair Craig Daves.  Most dances are $6 pp except for one later in season.  Dance committee thanks all who have volunteered to help at dances.  They have the help list complete.
   Rex Rexroad assisting entertainment chair Brock Laing reported a cancellation for the  March 2 show.  The Park Christmas Show on Dec. 22 will be a group of 75+ elementary age kids from Donna entertaining first half of program. Some heard them sing at Golden Corral on Vet's Day.  We need cookies & candy for them (and us?)  Cost of $3 pp will be given to the school.  School will provide portable bleachers for the children.  If any residents have hopes of being famous, they may wish to entertain the final half of the program.  Sharon Barksdale moved club spend $150 for candy/gifts to be given to the children.  This was approved.
  George & Sharyl Krantz have agreed to chair Christmas Day Dinner.  We thank them!  They will be putting up sign up sheets for volunteers to assist.  Those planning to attend need to sign up as well so they know how much ham to purchase.

   As in the past, Irene Quail is setting out large boxes for donations of non-perishable items to be given to park workers Roberto & Jesse as Christmas gifts.  If you prefer to give money, you may drop $$ off to her at #49.
  THANK YOU to the ladies who decorate our hall for the various seasons/holidays of the year .. Dianna Bruce and Catherine Gibbs.  We have a hall that always looks great!
   A note from Clear Design Hearing Aids was received by our chair as they would like to come talk AFTER a morning meeting.  There was not enough interest in this.
   Dave Johnson has park directories, $1.50 ea.  Purchase from Dave at #93 or Vicki in office.

    Since news editor will be hosting family from up north on next Monday, Dec. 11, would someone volunteer to take newsletter to the printer?  Contact Mary Lou at 103.
   Sunday Church has begun with Dr. Tom Cassidy our pastor.  Time is 8:30 a.m. Bible Study on Fridays not yet.
  Senior Yoga is held Mondays after meeting, Tuesdays & Thursdays, 10:30 a.m. with Janie Maxwell leader.
  Line Dance lessons are with Beverly Talley at 9:30 each Tuesday and Thursday morning.
   Park Breakfast is enjoyed at Fiesta Tex-Mex on Thursdays, 8 a.m.  All are welcome.
   Gordon Amos has stepped up to chair Friday Executive Golf.  Golfers meet at big hall at 10 a.m. to draw for tee time.  (change from 10:30 previous drawing time).
   Judy Shively chairs both 31 on Mondays & Hand & Foot on Wednesdays (starts this week).
  Euchre starts this Tuesday, 7 p.m.  Be there by 6:45 in card room behind big hall.  All come, says chair Mark Wieners #415.
   Do we have ladies interested in Pool both 9-ball & 8-ball league?  Come to practice on Tuesdays 1 p.m. Janie Maxwell is chair.
   Sue Barnhart announced there will not be GRILLING at Happy Hour Dec. 13.  Happy Hour will still be held.  Bring food & choice of beverage, meet about 4, plan to eat 4:30 or shortly after.  Everyone is welcome.
  Next Wed., Dec. 13, will be our first Park Pizza Party at Peter Piper Pizza, 11:30 a.m.  Chair Dean Ricke says it's a $7.35 buffet with free pop & ice cream.  He has coupons.. 9 buffets, 10th is free!  All are welcome it's enjoyed the 2nd & 4th Wednesday of each month Dec. through April.
   For those who like Big Band sound, Del Hickey plays in jam at Palm Shadows on Fridays.  He has put up a poster in card room about the RGV Concert Band Concert to be held Sunday, Dec. 10, 3 p.m. (location listed there).
   We approved donations of $200 each to Amigos de los Ninos Christmas Day Party in Nuevo Progreso and Weslaco Police Dept. Toy Drive.
   Joyce Amos invites RVE ladies to the Wine & Cheese Party in Friendship Hall Thursday, Dec. 7, 3 p.m.  Bring a bottle of your favorite wine or non-alcoholic beverage & a wine glass in a bag to exchange, cost is $3 pp.  All ladies should plan to attend!
   RVE men will be interested in the Dec. 14  3 p.m. get together, also chaired by Joyce.  Men should bring a cocktail glass in gift bag to exchange & drink of choice.  Cost is $3 pp. Bottles will be marked with your name so you will be able to take unused beverage home with you.

    Dana Daves is finalizing the bus tour to the King Ranch & Museum on Jan. 23, only 1 seat left.  Cost is $69 pp. Bus will leave RVE 8 - 8:30 a.m., return about 6 p.m.  Cost includes lunch.  If  you indicated interest in the tour & cannot go, please cross off your name on sign up sheet. As soon as bus calls Dana, she'll be collecting the $$.
   Mary Norby at #179 chairs our Feb. 8 Craft Sale.  It is the ONLY one in The Valley that insists only handmade items may be sold!  Pass the word .. vendors are needed.
   Get your pictures taken for the RVE Park Directory.  You may contact Joyce Amos for reserved date/time on Dec. 11, 12 & 13.  More pics will be taken in January.  If you want to order a directory, cost is $15.  You don't have to order.  No free picture this year.  If you want to purchase a CD with all your pictures, it's $25 & you may print your own.  If you would rather purchase from Creative Images, there is a $20 service charge.  Prices are reasonable .. 8x10 $3, 5x7 $1.50, 4x6 $.75, wallets 2 for $.75.
  Janean Geer,#10, showed a quilt she made after going to Llano Grande Quilt Show.  It is a “mystery quilt”.  Janean has pattern.  If interested, contact her.  She would give class.  Cost is $5 for the pattern.
