Monday meeting Nov. 9th

Just a short note of what went on at the meeting this morning.
Art Bloom gave the invocation. He told a story about one of our Veterens on the board Fred Hamilton, who was a prisoner of war and said each of the men on the board have a story to tell, and thanked Bobby and I for work we put into the board but thanks goes to the veteran Board comittee for all their work also.
Walter Piper was here to greet and welcome us back. Connie, mgr. reported that the mail has been coming late, like 5:00p.m. or 6:000p.m. and will do so until they get the routes straightened out. Connie also asked that people bring back the park traps as there are several that were loaned out and were never returned.
A lovely thank you card was sent by Cindy Gonsolez, Javier was there to personally thank us, we were asked to donate some money to help with the cost of a procedure she needed to have concerning her Cancer. Their Son made a carrot cake and a pineapple upside down cake for the folks attending the meeting this morning.
A cabinet was donated for the card room and there may be some more added to it for some much needed storage. We voted to buy a popcorn machine.
Jack Havertape urged everyone to go thru your "stuff" and get a table for the up coming flea market!! there only $2.00 a table
Those savings books will not be sold by Anita Farley this year, anyone want to sell them?
Art Voss was wanting the folks to vote to have the Benevides Floor care people come in after all major events like Speghetti, bean feed, stew feed, German Fest etc.
major events like these and they will sanatize all tables , bottoms and tops, and put majority of tables and chairs away, and clean and mop the floor, costing $150.00 each time. Well, the majority was for it.Well, we willl see how this works out, very expensive, in my opinion.
Marge Rexroad says floor exercises started every morning, and also quilting Tuesdays at 1:00p.m.
Oh, Jack Havertape has park phone directorys left yet.
Jack and Mary Jo are going to chair the Thanksgiving Dinner this year.
Isn't it wonderful we have so many willing folks who will step up and chair these great events and Dinners!!!

First Mon. morning meeting

Well, our first Mon. morning meeting was held this morning at 9:30. There were quite a few there. Art Voss chaired the meeting and Sharon Sprague was secretery. Art mentioned that both he and Paul Sprague do not wish to be chairman for this year as other people need to be doing it and be thinking of whom you might like for chairman this year.
Darlene Bryant gave the invocation and Nancy Kerkau led the singing of God Bless America and the pledge.
Connie and Jack Bardon, mgrs. were there to say welcome back to everyone and introduced the new Asst. mgrs. Larry and Clara White.
Kay Gibson thanked all her helpers she had for the Halloween Party she also said Javier Gonzolez wife needs a blood cleanse for her Cancer and it will cost $800.00 and Walter Piper, park owner will be giving some money and she asked all of us to donate if we would to help out. They passed the hat but alot of us didn't have
money with us so we ware to take our donation to Irene Quail.
Bobby Thomas reported that there was alot of problems this Summer with the freezer going out the refrigerator, and ice machine. As the temp inside our hall reached 120 many many days this Summer. He said the condensors could be put outside where there would be more air circulating, when ever the ice machine breaks down they have to send for parts as it's a different type of machine then most others that have a supply of parts handy right here in the Valley. Leaning towards buying a new one. But people need to realize we had a most unusual Summer with record breaking heat lasting for months. Hopefully we wont ever have another Summer like this past one!
Flu shots given here on Nov. 6th at 7a.m.
Irene gave us a list of people who have passed away since April and a few cards that she sent out. One being to Henry Hrnyiw who had 6 by-pass surgery.
Charlotte Therrien said there would be an "allmost a jam" session which will start the 1st Friday in Jan. and then the regular Jam Session will be the 2nd Thursday of every month.
Jack Havertape said that there will be 60 tables available for the flea market
and is selling tables now.
