Poem

This was written by Bobby Gabbert's nephews, Uncle who died a few days after writing it.

Im Memory

This table is a reminder to all who witness , that we may never forget the soldiers left behind on the battle fields in foreign lands. We will always honor their service their sacrifice for our freedom, and that will always strive to bring them home.

The Missing Man Table set up includes a small, round bistro table, a white tablecloth, a single place setting, an inverted wine glass, a salt shaker, a slice of lemon on a bread plate with a pile of spilled salt, a bible, a small bud vase with a RED ribbon tied around it containing a single long stem red rose, a lit candle, and an empty chair.
The table is round to show our everlasting concern for our missing men and women. The tablecloth is white symbolizing the purity of their motives when answering the call to duty. The single red rose, displayed in a case, reminds us of the life of each of the missing, and their loved ones and friends who keep the faith, awaiting answers. The vase is tied with a red ribbon, a symbol of our continued determination to account for our missing. A slice of lemon on the bread plate is to remind us of the bitter fate of those captured or missing in a foreign land. The spilled salt symbolizes the tears endured by those missing and their families who seek answers. The Bible represents the strength gained through faith to sustain those lost from our country, founded as one nation, under God. The glass in inverted to symbolize their inability to share this day's toast. The chair is empty because they are missing.
Let us now observe a moment of silence to honor America's POW/MIAs and to the success of our efforts to account for them now. Now, you know! Now you can never forget!

At a Veterans' Dinner at R.V.E. Bobby put up the missing man table with some help from some other Verterans
Thank you Mary Lou for reminding me about this

May 18th

John and Irene provided the donuts this morning!

For Memorial Day they will enjoy Turkey on the spit, and also having games that you can win money at! sounds neat. Unfortunately we will be gone to Wendover, NV.
No cards up to sign but we are planning a little surprise party coming up, but can't tell ya until it's over 😅

I just came from Cielto Lindo Reastaurante Mexicano! It's  located behind the in door flea market which is on the frontage road. Down the street from Big Lots several doors and across the parking lot to the East. They have a noon buffet, which they feature a different main dish each day, also on Saturdays and Sundays they have a breakfast buffet.
They were just putting out the food for the buffet and I thought it sure looked good. they can handle groups also.

More news later

Oh, we just tried the new Smokehouse, Bar-B-Cutie. It was very very good, prices high  but food was excellent. For example you can order 1/3 lb. Brisket which come with or without sauce on it and bread comes with it, all sides are $2.49 or Corn on the cob was cheaper. Then 1/2 lb. Brisket was $8.10, drinks extra. So they don't have  meat including sifdes everything is priced seperate.

April 5th

No news is good news I guess!

Bobby and I provided the donuts yesterday morning. Not many have signed up this year to provide them....Not much going on here, except they are getting ready to do that seal coat on the streets. We had a few sprinkles of rain today and looks like we could get another, atleast the wind died down and it's rather nice.
We had a very nice dinner with Bobby's nephew Donnie and his wife Debbie Cox, they are from Olmito and he grew herbs and sold all over the Valley to nurseries, now retired. We went to Cyro's and ate, it was very good. Debbie and Bob attended also. They brought us fresh tomatos, carrots, & cucumbers out of their garden. We have had Okra, one tomato, and a lot of cherry tomatos, many jalapenos (from one little plant) but really producing, and the flowers doing really good.

If you have any news you would like me to write about don't hesitate to send me an email...also love to get pictures...someone took one of my pictures off of my blog and put it on facebook 😁 Who would do such a thing???I saw several of my old pictures taken some years ago in the new pamphlet for the park, that was evidently just printed.

The new B.B.Q. place getting ready to open May 17th...called Bar B.Q. Cutie right along the frontage road, not far!

They have the usual menu of,Hickory Smoked B.B.Q.pork, turkey, brisket, baby back ribs, and cutie-tizers of Nachos, buffalo wings, white beans and cornbread, chili, & Brunswick stew, Salads, also Dinners! Of Roast turkey with dressing, roast beef, baked ham, chicken fried steak, chopped sirloin w grilled onions & brown gravy........HUNGRY YET?

Anyway, I found the menu on the computer so am pretty sure this is what they offer at all the BarB.Q.Cutie restaurants

Just came from Dairy queen
Have a great week
