Coffee and Donuts

Al & Dolores Mason provided the donuts this morning. There were only 28 there, unless someone came in later, as I didn't stay very long. The Kerr's are home! they came in, and just now saw them both mowing their yards, catch up time, they had someone mow while they were gone but they came home just in time as the yards were starting to need mowing again! We are having Father's Day dinner Sunday in the hall over 42 signed up so far. I will take my camera, and make a smilebox for you.
I got a call from the Berglunds, they got home Thursday, (yesterday) made it home in time to unpack and get situated. Dave had left his passport on his dresser here in the Valley so I sent it to them, I think Monday afternoon, it was waiting at the post office when they went and got their mail! Pretty fast service for our Post Office! He was very happy as the Grandaughter has a dance recital they want to go to on the Canada side this weekend.
I received an email from Mary Lou Benson, she reminded us to get our reservation for the campout at Clermont,Ia. Which we did. We will be in spot 18...for those going you'll know where to stay away from lol! It sounds like fun again this year with our nightly get-to-gethers for dinner, some fun excursions, and Mary Lou ordered t shirts with a special design. Tom Benson will cook a whole hog on Friday night I think that would be the 12th, not sure, anyway also hope to have the omelets in a bag
on Sat. possibly.Mary Lou talked to Roger and Darlene andrews Sunday at Church. She has begun Chemo so everyone say a prayer that everything goes well for her!
I talked to Hazel Bocock recently. She said it rains every day there. They took a trip to Canton and on the way home got into tornado warnings, hail damaged their car. Then another trip to Amarillo, and another tornado warnings with hail damaged the car, then on another trip, around Edder OK another bad storm and golf ball size hail, she said they pulled around a gas station and got under an awning but still got some more damage!! She said she wasn't going to get the car fixed until the weather straightens out.
Gary and Jan Philipps said there's been rain darn near every day there too. And heard on the news last night of 62 tornados in MN and IA last night, 2 killed in MN.
Yikes the weather better straighten out or this ole gal will stay right down here lol
Thank goodness there is a shelter at Skip-away Campground!
I got another email from Marge Reishus, she and Ann Johnson and Shirley Stensrud met Dorothy Borah in Brookings, S.D. to celebrate an early Birthday for Dorothy. Also Ann and Marge spent a couple days at Stenruds this past week and had dinner at Bennigans, celebrating Don & Shirleys Anniversary I guess the weather wasn't to great but they had a good time
It has been hot here the humidity seems so much higher this Summer. The evenings and mornings still gorgous though.
Keep those emails coming, I will have something more to write about!!

Also that many women go around with no tops on, some of which don't look so good!!Groceries are high, like bread is $4.14. We had a fun night last night , over 40 there. We brought finger food and played games after.Ken & Sue Barnhart brought 12 different wooden animal and bird cutouts. A squirrel, duck, tern, swan etc. Each one had a caption. but we had to put the caption with the animal. That was hard. 12 of us got to receive one, the ones who got the most right!
There were a couple people on the board this morning, one of them was Ken Costly, gall bladder surgery, and Dick DeKoning, tests after his surgery. also Bud Mauser is in a nursing home now. I got an email from Diane Gibson that Bruce has breast cancer and is seeing a oncologist about radiation etc. He had a lump removed. Aloyce was saying that her brother Buzz Roberts had a shoulder replacement and is so encouraged by the results he is going to have the other one done. We also got a picture of him for our Veterans board!

I got an email from Jo Brennamen, former resident, she said she really enjoyed the Smilebox I did of Ken and Banas Anniversary. I put the song Ken sent me that means so much to them with their picture for the background music on the Smilebox I remember we were over to Southworths and Ken sang that song to Bana for their 50th anniversary six years ago, it was really lovely. Jo said she really enjoys the blog and hearing about all of us,even though they can't come down any more, and that she and Rex loved coming here every Winter.

June 9th

Hi,
Well, a few people responded with some news as to what they have been up to this Summer. I heard from the Eshelmans, now living in a townhouse in Burlington, Ia.
Ken just celebrated his 85th Birthday June 3rd! They attended a wedding for their Grand daughter April 25th, just North of St.Louis,MO.
She said they've had lots of rain in the Burlington area and the fields look like ponds and too late to replant the corn. That's too bad.
I also heard from Tom and Rojean Anderson, they went to Nebraska for a Grandsons graduation and also a Grandaughters graduation. On the way home met with the Rusers for lunch in Osceola,IA and also stopped by Amos's for a visit. She said at each stop they had what they considered the "best" tenderloin! And said they couldn
t decide which were the best! Oh, I could go for one of those!
The Benson's went fishing in MN and caught 200 fish...Wow! They stopped by and visited with the Philipps. Also they had just had company from Colorado, Tom's Son and family.
On the 7th we had some very big storms here. It was so weird as they would be going from East to West then turn and come back from West to East. There was a couple mobiles in a Colonia North of Donna that were distroyed by high winds or tornados.
Also pea size up to golf ball size hail some places. We got alot of wind and rain, fierce lightening and tremendous thunder here. Yes....I was scared!!!We could find no damage around here thank God.
Well, I will write more Friday! Keep sending me news so I have something to write about LOL

Hi
We had our coffee and donuts this morning Berglunds furnished them.
Last night a bunch of us went to Ay Jahlisco Restaurant behind Home Depot off of Westgate Dr. there were 36 of us. Most everyone said the food was excellent. We are planning to go back, with a smaller group. On Sat. and Sun. afternoons they have folkloric dancers. Friday evenings there is Karoke, which is young Mexican boys and girls singing. It starts at 8:00 to 2:00 a.m. lol dont think we will be going for that!!
Oh, I failed to mention there were 57 people at our Memorial Day get-to-gether!
A very small group at the Donuts this a.m. Maybe 30.
Darlene Bryant did not have any news of anyone sick, nothing on the board. I know so many of you have news you would like to post...so please email me news from your area!!Good news is always nice to hear about..and we all would like to know what you are doing back at your Summer homes. I just heard from Gary Philipp, he said he had done some fishing, didn't catch enough to clean so threw them back!!Jan has been going to the hospital to be with her Sister Marlene who they think has pancreitis. So please email me with some news and I will be glad to post it.
Tomarrow at noon we will be going up to the card room and Javier will be delivering the B.B.Q. plates to help raise money for Cindy's Cancer treatments.
This coming Thursday instead of going out somewhere to eat as a group we are having finger food in the card room and play games afterwards.
The Mgrs, Asst. Mgrs and the boys are all working hard this Summer. They have a huge list of things they want to get done this Summer. And it's so hot! Highs close to 100 every day now and lows around 80. Typical Summer. Palm tree trimmers coming Monday to trim the parks Palm trees.
We had 3 tables at Canasta Wednesday! Pretty good!
Herb McClish is back and so is Mary Lantis. I think they both are going to be year-round residents.
Well, not much to tell about...again, if you would , please email me, let me know what you are up to...hows the crops? have a big garden? any new Grand babies pics to share? Been to graduations? what? Any Anniversary's or Birthday Partys?
