How about this thought for the day ??
Brains of older people are slow because they know so much.  People do not decline mentally with age.  It just takes them longer to recall facts because they have more information in their brains, scientists believe.  Much like a computer struggles as the hard drive gets full, so, too, do humans take longer to access information.  The human brain works slower in old age, said Dr. Michael Ramscar, but only because we have stored more information over time.  The brains of older people do not get weak.  On the contrary, they simply know more.  Also, older people often go to another room to get something and when they get there, they stand there wondering what they came for.  It is NOT a memory problem.  It is nature's way of making older people do more exercise.  SO THERE !!!

April 5 – Easter Service in Friendship Hall, 8:30 a.m.

What is a Dog? (contributed by a park friend) ..
Dogs lie around all day, sprawled on the most
comfortable piece of furniture in the house.
They can hear a package of food opening half a block away, but don't hear you when you're in the same room.
They can look dumb & lovable all at the same time.
They growl when they are not happy.
When you want to play, they want to play.
When you want to be alone, they want to play.
  They are great at begging.
They will love you forever if you rub their tummies.
  They leave their toys everywhere.
They do disgusting things with their mouths
and then try to give you a kiss.
Conclusion:  They're men in little fur coats.

Here are a few things you can enjoy EVERY DAY ..
Old family recipes
A perfect cup of coffee
A handwritten letter
Singing in the shower
Doing something nice for your neighbor
A home-cooked meal
An afternoon nap
Your favorite song
Inspiring blogs
A glass of wine
The wind in your hair (if you have any)
Treating the person behind you at the drive-thru
Flying a kite (yes, we still do that at Padre Island)
Root beer floats
Really great advice
Holding hands
Old friends
New friends
Girl Scout Cookies
Kissing someone you love
The smell of onions and garlic cooking
A new magazine in the mail
Bacon and pancakes cooking on Saturday morning

How many readers believe the season is WINDING DOWN?  Does the editor have way too much room for jokes?  Some folks have told me they enjoy the stories I print at the end of
the newsletter .. so here's just one more.

The Wisdom of Will Rogers
Lettin' the cat outta the bag is a whole lot easier
than puttin' it back in.”
“There's two theories to arguing with a woman.
Neither one works.”
“For every minute you are angry with someone, you lose 60 seconds of happiness that  you can never get back.”

That's all for today .. Happy Easter!
Christ The Lord is risen ..

Monday March 30th

We only had 4 tables of 6 for Mexicam Train last night...too many left or are leaving this morning.
The meeting was short today also. Our Easter Dinner will be next Sunday and so far 155 folks signed up.
We spent Saturday in Corpus Christi at a baby shower for a Great Grandaughter coming soon.

I just received an email from Janean:

We have a Cancer for Kids sewing project. The Children's Hospital told Dianna Bruce that they need small pillows and pillow cases for the children to hold on too after surgery. We have purchased the pillows but we need pillow cases. The following website shows how to make easy pillowcases in no time at all. http://www.allfreesewing.com/…/Pillowcase-with-French-Seams…. The pillows are: 8" wide and 12" long. Sharon Barksdale made a sample pillowcase using the following measurements: Body - 13 X 22"; Heading - 6 X 22"; Trim: 2 X 22". We have 100 pillows so if you would like a sewing project, please let  Janean Berhow know you would be willing to make some pillow cases.  Thanks.

Have a wonderful Easter!

Soup Supper

Our soup supper was a lot of fun, and trying 12 different soups was fun, trying to decide which one I liked the best was hard. 12 couples made a roaster of their favorite soup and 188 people or so had a great time going from table to table tasting their soup.
Maxine made a Louisiana soup it had shrimp in it.
Here's Carmen with Dave and the Topels. Carmen made a delicious soup like they serve at Olive Garden "Zuppa Toscana"
Charlotte made her Cajun soup which went over big! And beside her is Dottie with her Bacon Potato soup!
Here's Mary and Maude they made a Vegetable Cream soup, you can see on the back wall ,that hanging over each roaster was the name of the soup and persons who made it.
Mark and Betty Wieners...she made a great Cheddar Cheese soup!
Dave and Jerry helped a lot and Bobby is in the back sampling some soup.
A big bunch of hungry folks ready to start eating
2 of our great "Chefs" Sue and Sandy
Sue made a really tasty Vegetable Beef soup and Sandy made Chicken and Rice soup
Other folks who made soup were Kathy Cochran, Taco soup, Marge Reishus and Ann Johnson made Cheeseburger soup, Nancy Argo made Cream of Broccoli, and I made Cowboy soup.

Too much rain!

We hope all those folks heading out in the next week or so don't have to be towed out! It sure has been a crazy Winter of nasty weather.

A joke for ya...

In surgery for a heart attack, a middle- aged woman has a vision of God by her bedside. "Will I die?" she asks.

God says, "No. You have 30 more years to live."

With 30 years to look forward to, she decides to make the best of it. So since she’s in the hospital, she gets implants, liposuction, a tummy tuck, hair transplants, and collagen injections in her lips. She looks great!

The day she’s discharged, she exits the hospital with a swagger, crosses the street, and is immediately hit by an ambulance and killed.

Up in heaven, she sees God. "You said I had 30 more years to live," she complains. "That’s true," says God.

"So what happened?"

God shrugs. "I didn’t recognize you."

Mushrooms

I found this too be very interesting...all the mushrooms collected by the Tomasiewitcz's from Canada...they are leaving Monday to go home.they are in 410 here in the park. I hope they find lots of mushrooms again this year!

 Lots of canned mushrooms!

Stan and Janina raise a huge garden and grow most everything, they also have their own bees, lots of fruit trees, both Stan and Janina hunt deer and I think bear, they fish and get lots of Walleye too.

Plums!
They make their own wine!

Fishing in the park?

I wonder if Rollo caught any fish today
We sure had a good rain here in south Texas this week

Monday august 19th

The whole park came Saturday to Gary Phillip's memorial service. He will be missed by all of us and never forgotten.

Also this weekend on Saturday and Sunday, our park had open house, the weather didn't help things but all in all it was beneficial and quite a few new folks came and looked at the new mobiles and ones listed by the park for sale. Walter Piper was here for our weekly meeting and we had our drawing for the door prizes from the open house, Walter gave away a 40" t.v. won by someone out of the park, 2 clocks, another t.v.  and a years free rent!
This summer there's plans for new counter tops and sinks in the kitchen, also an outdoor grill which can handle big B.B.Q.s
Don't forget to scroll down and listen to the beautiful song we have adopted as our Club Song

Here's the babies all in a pile!

We sold tickets for the Soup Dinner coming up on the 19th and also Lucy was selling the phone books, and Sharon selling potato bar tickets
