Jan. 29th

We are having more typical temperatures lately, cool mornings but 70's for high, love it!
I have been trying to get some of my plants trimmed back and the frost bitten leaves removed, some are not going to recover. The fruit trees in our yard did not do well this season. I noticed several mornings now,  Possums are coming to eat fruit that has fallen off the trees because of the birds, even though we pick up the fruit atleast every other day there is still some for the Possums on the ground.

We went to Wendover Nv. for 3 days on a chartered plane. It was a lot of fun, even the plane ride which took 3 hours, was fun, played games on the plane and more games on the trip home. Snow on the mountains and around 22 in the mornings up to 30's during the day.I was really cold until I got back home 😁.

don't forget about the Super Bowl Party!

A young man was very excited because he just won a ticket to the Super Bowl. His excitement lessened as he realized his seat was in the back of the stadium.

As he searched the rows ahead of him for a better seat, he found an empty one right next to the field.

He approached the man sitting next to the empty seat and asked if it was taken.
The man replied, "No."

Amazed the young man asked, "How could someone pass up a seat like this?"

The older gentleman responded, "That's my wife's seat. We've been to every Super Bowl together since the day we were married but she has passed away."

"Oh, how sad," the man said. "I'm sorry to hear that, but couldn't you find a friend or relative to come with you?"

"No," the man said, "They're all at the funeral."

Here's a few thoughts on RETIREMENT ..
“I changed my car horn to gunshot sounds.
People get out of the way much faster now.”
“Gone are the days when girls used to cook like their mothers. Now they drink like their fathers.”
“I didn't get to the gym today. That makes 5 yrs in a row.”
“If God wanted me to touch my toes,
He would've put them on my knees.”
“The biggest lie I tell myself is .. 'I don't need to
write that down, I'll remember it.'”
“Of course I talk to myself - sometimes I need expert advice.”
“Last year I joined a support group for procrastinators.
We haven't met yet.”
And finally .. “I'm a Seenager (Senior teenager). I have everything I wanted as a teenager, only 60 years later. I don't have to go to school or work. I get an allowance every month. I don't have a curfew. I have my own pad. I have a driver's license & my own car. I have an ID that gets me into bars & the whiskey store. The people I hang around with are not scared of getting pregnant.
And I don't have acne.”

Jan.15th Meeting

We are really having cold weather for the next 3 days. 30's with wind today and some rain, tomarrow more the same.
We sure have had a lot of fruit drop off the trees, but not from the cold...the birds are really doing a number on the fruit, they peck a hole in the fruit and soon the fruit drops off the tree. Many have said it's been a really bad year for that.
I will finish up with the Missouri Red Hat Luncheon picture tomarrow and get all my pictures over to Rod, we will get our photo directories in about 7 weeks or so and not have to wait until Fall like we used to have to. So sorry some arrived too late to get their picture in the directory.
It was great to have the help of Joyce Amos this time, even with all her involvement with the Wine and Cheese Parties, she still took time to help me with appointments for the Directory.
