flowers around the Park

Century plant

This century plant is behind #89. It's the largest Century Plant I have ever seen . It's as tall as the fence and shooting way up and branching out.
The Honeysuckle, correction "Jasmine" is at Bosch's and smells wonderful when you walk by.

April 26th

These are some fish Gary Philipps caught. Dar Griffin got to go out and fish yeaterday, she had a great time and caught some fish.
We had another Friday donuts with the Benson's providing them. We decided to have a potluck for Mothers Day. Bobby Thomas had his surgery and is getting around pretty well, he says it's still quite hard getting up and down, he had 3 hernias to repair. And Rexroad is doing good and doing quite a bit of walking around, he has 3 scars on his lower back and they are pretty long. there's a card up for Darlene Andrews, who had surgery after getting home.
Connie was telling us that there's alot of work going on this Summer, they are going to power wash the roof on the big hall and seal it and do work on the 99 electrical posts and other work out there , also putting down kaliche (sp.) where the units are parked and rock on top of that., supposed to remodel the 99 bathrooms, and Walter said they were doing quite a few streets this Summer and also some will be overlayed. They are going to do something with the shrubery at the entrance to the park and plant some shrubs on the North side of the drive coming into the park.
The 24th was Bobby's, Jan, and Aloyces big Birthday Party. there was 71 people there including the honorees. We hired Fred Goldsberry to play music and sing, we had pizza brought in from Domino's Pizza, and we all helped decorate the hall for the occassion oh and the best part...an open bar!
Adrian and family came but Javier and wife couldn't come, Cindy is not doing too well, may go into the hospital, Javiers Father is in the hospital now.
I will post a few pictures

Friday Donuts

This Friday morning we had about 50 for our first donut Friday. The office supplied the donuts.
Darlene Bryant lead the discussion. she said the Paca's had an accident on the way home, North of DesMoines, Monica has several breaks in her back. So sorry to hear about that. Jerry Nordquist had his surgery and is doing good. Rexroad is recovering from his back surgery and is on the mend, also Aloyce Berglund had back surgery, she had some problems with way too much fluid build up and had to have alot of lasex. She is doing better.
We are going to think about what kind of Dinner we will have on Mother's Day.
And decide next Friday.
Sharon Sprague said $532.00 was turned in for aluminum cans from Oct. to Apr.
That's a pretty nice sum.
We are having 2 weddings in our hall this year, Bill and Velda Lee's son is getting married this Sat. And Bev Ostrander and Del later in May I believe.
We sure have had the rain down here, several inches. I guess the onion crop will really suffer as they don't get dry enough so they won't keep well. There's rain in the forecast for the next several days yet!
I am going to take some pictures around the park later, there's some beautiful cactus blooming and other flowers.
I heard from Therriens, just to let us know they got home safely.
I will write later, hope you all got home safely and have a great Summer!

Monday meeting

I went to Harlingen with Aloyce and Darlene for Aloyces pre-op. while she was at the hospital we went shopping. Aloyce's surgery is this thursday. I understand that there's a cyst on her spine that's causing much pain in her leg, so she's having the cyst removed.
I have the last newsletter in front of me and will pick out the newsworthy stuff.
Darlene Bryant chaired this mornings meeting. a very small group attending.Art bloom gave the invocation.
Mgr. Connie reminded folks that adults only to drive the golf carts in the park
and watch for people walking and biking. She said for everyone to have a nice Summer.
Properties member Bobby Thomas said they put in new doors and curtains in the kitchen which were much less expensive than moving the condensor outside. Last summer which was the hottest Summer in years was very hard on our refrigerators and icemachine.
Irene quail sent cards to Herb McClish who had been in the hospital, Jerry Elwood, bone marrow transplant, Caroll Kepler, hip surgery, Jerry Nordguist, surgery postponed for a week. Martha Millender passed a card to sign for former resident Ione Alwin, who is now in a nursing home in San Benito.
There will be a wedding in the hall April 17th for Davis Clement and June Juarez all invited.
We are starting our Summer coffee and donuts on Fridays (for the Summer residents)in the pool room. If any of you wish to provide the donuts I have a sign-up sheet in the lobby .
You can buy the donuts and make the coffee and also you need to clean up afterwards.
