There was an EF-0 tornado here the other day,it touched down briefly South of Pharr and Hidalgo, caused a truck to be over turned and a torn up roof on a building. The weather man said there were winds of 100 mph or so, in the tornado.

Friday June 24th

We really got the rain here Wednesday & Thursday! You know we haven't had any rain that did any good for 9 months. We have had burn bans and warnings severe drought warnings etc. so everyone was so happy to see the rain. But of course so much flooding, people getting water in their homes and knee deep in their yards, they say on the weather report that there's no funding for drainage. Most flooding is North and East in Weslaco. We are to get even more rain next week and some isolated showers around here.Temps are lows in the mid 70's highs in the upper 90's.
Sue and Ken Barnhart provided our donuts this morning. they are planning "plotting" ? our 4th of July get-to-gether. We are having a "Picnic" folks here don't know it but there will be a few surprises after dinner that day. I will be sure to post some pictures of the FUN!! Ken and Sue are grilling burgers and fixing the rest of the meal. We don't have to bring anything!
Cards were sent to Carol Nelson#233 on the death of her Mother, a card to the Welches on the death of their Son. Gordon Lamps Brother, Carl passed away and the Lamps are still gone. I just put up a card for Linda Miller, knee surgery.
I think the park is going to overlay the streets, when it dries up here, Wow there's lots of fire ant mounds all over the park. Too bad the park doesn't get out and treat them while they're visible now, I got stung 3 times yesterday

Our Father's Day Dinner

We had a fun Father's Day. The dinner was hosted by Nancy Argo, shown here with my husband. Bobby. the ribs were scrumptious and Nancy got great help from Dori Rosendahl, and Bev Telfor. Nancy made some neat centerpieces and I made the Father's Day bookmarks and little mens shirts made of scrapbook paper. We didn't just rush off after dinner, Nancy had different folks tell something of interest about their Dads and she had a couple readings. It was so nice.
I have found out that alot of people follow this blog who do not live here but like to see the pictures and hear about the goings on of our park, a bunch of your children read the blog just to keep track of what you people are up to !!! I hear from some of you that you really enjoy the blog so "thanks", I really like doing it

Sunday! Happy Father's Day
Oh, what a beautiful day! My birthday! It is 79 degrees and will be 99 with very gusty hot winds. Now if I was still in Iowa it would be about 80 today and strawberry picking time? I think I remember picking strawberry's in mid June or so. Oh were they ever good.

A card was sent to Ed Lampmans family, he passed away the 9th. He was one of our park owners
Nancy Argo reminded us about Father's Day dinner, we will bring a dish to pass and we will be having ribs
I will make a smile box of my big party today, and post it tonight or tomarrow.

A poem about Friendship this is the kind of Friendships we have and make in our park...
What a lovely thing it is
To have a loyal Friend
Someone who understands us
On whom we can depend
A Friend who sees and knows
Our faults
And likes us anyway
And never takes offense
At anything we say
Who helps us through our troubles
Stands by us in our needs
Such Friendship trancends
Barriers of color race and creed
For Friendship is a precious gift
and we should aways treasure
The ones who share our grief
Our joy
Our heartaches and our pleasure
Thank you to Aloyce and Sue for making my Birthday a very memorable one.

Friday June 10th

Inner Peace:
If you can start the day without caffeine,
If you can always be cheerful, ignoring aches and pains,
If you can resist complaining and boring people with your troubles,
If you can eat the same food every day and be grateful for it,
If you can understand when your loved ones are too busy to give you any time,
If you can take criticism and blame without resentment ,
If you can conquer tension without medical help,
If you can relax without liquor,
If you can sleep without the aid of drugs,

...Then You Are Probably .........
