Friday May 28th

I didnt go to the Coffee and Donuts this morning. Harel and Betty Aderton provided the donuts.! It was such a beautiful morning that after walking the dog, I road my new bike and then went to aquasizes.
Bobby said there will be a Fundraiser for Cindy, Javiers wife who has Cancer.
There will be BBQ chicken plates sold at $5.00 each. They would be delivered to each house, but they all decided we would sign-up for the plates and we would meet in the game room on the 5th at noon and that way Javier would only have to make one drop!
Many at donuts this morning signed up already. I look for a good turn out for Cindy.
The Asst Mgrs. are back from their vacation, they said they had a great time. They have a new Grand child and she is so cute. I got to see pics! they said it was cold where they went and Larry came back with one heck of a cold.
By the way the pool looked beautiful this morning. Adrian scrubbed all around the sides and got rid of the Purple ring! The temperature is perfect!
Ann Thorpe has shingles! She is miserable I guess.
Our weather has been quite warm with a little above average temps for this time of year...95 on average for highs and lows mid 70's or upper 70's, but it doesn't seem that bad with the breezes that come up in the afternoons, the evenings are lovely. 95 here is quite different than up North.
They're working on the 99's right now. I see today, it's all mowed and looking nice back there.
Some went to breakfast over to Tex-Mex yesterday morning and then last night we met at the hall and quite a few of us went to Willies BBQ in Alamo. We must have had about 24 that went.
I noticed the CVS Pharmacy building is looking good! Its all completely painted on the outside and doing the parking lot yesterday when we went by there. It will be nice to have here in town and a different place to go besides Walgreens.
Well, that's all I know for now, will post some pics of our Memorial Day Dinner. maybe!

note

Just a note as I wanted to show a few pictures of Keplers neat Cactus, I also took a picture of Gibsons Koi, swimming around in their pond. For some of you who have a Dessert Rose bush, they are looking so beautiful. Mine is full of flowers. that huge Century plant had to be cut down, it was falling over on the fence. I guess Babbitts planted it originally.
Got an email from Joyce Amos, she said she's doing well after her total knee replacement and also said Daryl Henningsen is doing good after his shoulder replacement. Dale Clark was in the hospital and I think in rehab now. Walking is a problem I think.

Friday May 21st

Good morning everyone!

This morning we had our coffee and donuts which were furnished by Mary Freundshuh and Gene Koliba. There was a very sparse group there this morning.
We discussed the upcoming potluck open to all at Ken & Sue Barnharts#276.Ken is smking meats and we are all bringing a side dish to pass. It will be fun.
Also our Memorial Day Dinner will be Mon. the 31st and Bobby Thomas will be cooking burgers and we will be having beans, potato salad, chips, home made icecream and some other desserts. Aderton's are making the icecream, yum yum!
This Thursday, whom ever wishes to go, will meet at the hall and carpool over to Willies B.B.Q. That is aways a good place to eat.
Every Thursday morning there is breakfast at Tex-Mex. I understand only 14 went yesterday morning.
Do you all know Alice Matson? She finally got her hearing aids! She's delighted with them. We went to bingo over to Trails End last Tuesday. Monday is Bingo at Southern Comfort and Friday is Bingo at Leisure World. Alice is supposed to go to Hawaii next week. Her nieces are taking her, one is a Nurse, so she will be in good hands, and a trip of a lifetime for her.
We had a huge rain this week, lightening and lots of thunder. A tree was split by lightening at our Asst. mgrs. house and Connie said their storm door blew open and bent it pretty bad. But can't find any other damage around or none reported in Weslaco around town. Flooding of course in some low places. There were tornado warnings North of here but nothing damaged by them. The grass is lush and green here in the park and the mowers going like crazy all over the park after the rain. It looks very nice this year, all the yards look very neat and trimmed.
Work on the roofs of the main hall and office is about complete. Starting on the 99's next, I think. Electrical posts etc.
Dale Clark is in the hosp. He was having some tests done. A card will be going up for Darlene Cook, whose Cancer is back.

the Wedding

Kay Gibson did a fantastic job decorating our hall for the wedding. There were darling little churches and little bouguets of flowers on 10 - 12 tables and a lovely large arrangement on the stage. All the tables had pretty table covers and I helped a little...We made up huge trays of deli meats and cheeses, chips pickles, vegy's, and Del and Bev had a huge cake with a cute bingo card and bridal sillouette stuck on the cakes (I dont know where those came from...) someone who has way too much time on their hands lol. They met at bingo so Bev asked me to make something up suitable for the cake. They were cute. Also Kay had lovely flower arrangements on the serving tables and on the cake table. I personally didn't take a whole lot of pictures as her children were taking many snapshots of folks who attended and at the Church etc. Bev's Daughter was her bridesmaid and Del's Son was his attendent.the wedding was fun and when Del went to say his vows the preacher stopped him and said "Del speak up" the people can't here ya! Now lets start over...and everyone laughed. Then when the minister asked for the rings from Dels son, he acted like he had forgot them but soon found them..it was so funny. there must have been 160 or more at the Church and then everyone came to our park for the resception and dance.
Fred Goldsberry played music. a great time was had by all. I know the whole park was there and many from Del's park and from the Church were there.

We did receive news of Dale McClurg passing away, their unit is at E-1.they are from DesMoines,IA.
Our weather is so beautiful, cool mornings up to 90 or so in the day time and cool in the evening with nice breezes, not too windy either!
I have 2 pictures of the new fence on the West side of Mittlebergs park model. It looks real nice and they are going to be painting it.
Everyone in the park is going to Bev and Dels wedding tomarrow. There's a reception after here in the hall. I hope to get some pictures to post!
