Hi Everyone
It's kind of hard to write about the happenings in the park when we are 1300 miles away...but I have a couple spies who tell me the latest!
Larry Dixon supplied the donuts Friday morning. there were very few there. For Social Hour Wed. there were only 10. At donuts the only thing discussed was the sitings of the Skunk family. They seem to come from around Blooms/Mosleys area, before Mary Freundshuh and Gene left they had seen them quite a few times crossing the road near their home. I suppose at night they are all over the park.
The card up to sign is to Joyce Welch, Cancer surgery. We hope to hear from them soon.
By the way...it is NOT HOT in Texas compared to Oklahoma and Kansas!! I think in Kansas one day this week was to be 106, and it's been in the triple digits a long time. Dry there also. Iowa is so dry also. It sprinkled a little in Southern Iowa last night. Lawns and trees really suffering, and of course the crops too.
We camped one night near Ottuwa, Kansas.(Homewood R.V.Park) Off of Interstate 35, at the 176 exit. It's very nice and free Wi-Fi (that works perfectly) Pull thru's and nice bathrooms. Owned by a very nice couple. We went into Ottuwa (at the 183 exit) to the Walmart and also ate at the Sirloin Stockade, Fantastic! We went to an orchard near the Park and they had fresh peaches, tomatos, cucumbers, and plums. They also make and bottle their own wine, so I had to sample quite a few before deciding on Apple, Apple Rasberry, and Elderberry.

Friday July 20th

Good morning everyone! I thought this was a neat picture of the Sun rising, of course it was even prettier in person. The sky was pink and purple!
Ken & Anita Farley furnished donuts this morning.

Friday mornings is the time we all get together and visit and have coffee and donuts. And oh, my, the complaints are flying! The pool heater is still not fixed, and it's been 2 months or more. That's the main complaint. the temperature is not quite 84 degrees on the thermometer. It's way too cold for people who suffer from Arthritis. It's ok for those jumping around and actually swimming but who does that? Lol !! This is just the same as last year, the temp got down to 80 or so and most could not use the pool for months. The heater broke a little later in the Summer last year when the nights were cooler. It will get fixed when it's fixed so they said! We have had several water and gas shut offs this Summer, seems more than usual.

We received word that Richard Blom, former resident, has had quite a Summer, heart attack, heart surgery, kidney failure, blood clots. But is doing better now. A card is up for him. Also Penny Rush passed away last week. We sent a card to Don.
Tom Brown and Tom Duffy are here! Tom's doing some work on his mobile. Both are from Dunkerton,Ia.
We are looking forward to the campout in Clermont. I hope to take alot of pictures.

The pictures were sent to me from Al & Sandy Lenius and Tom and Rojean Anderson. They all had a great time at the potluck this year. They came from all over and some drove a long way to get there. Eshelmans and Whiteds drove quite a distance. there were 76 people there this year. I think a record number.
For those who don't know, we have this potluck in Story City, Ia. every Summer. Also coming up is the Campout at Clermont, IA. which will be August 5th to the 11th, another yearly get-to-gether of folks who Winter in our park.
John and Irene Quail furnished the donuts this morning. Not much news from down here. We took a drive around the park last night admiring how beautiful it looks, the R.V. section is mowed so nice, the guys really are doing a fantastic job. There is a card up for Gary Lundgren, eye surgery. And a card for Billy Baker from Mason City, IA. he had a heart attack and had a stint put in. He is the Son-in-law of Darlene Bryant and has been in our park alot visiting Darlene.

Happy Canada Day! to all our Dear Canadian Friends
Canadians celebrate their independence on July 1- Canada Day. Their celebration is similar to the United States 4th of July with parades, concerts, ceremonies, and fireworks.

The British North America Act established the federal government of Canada on July 1, 1867 and united the British colonies of Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Ontario, and Quebec. The British continued to maintain some influence until the Constitution Act of 1982.

(By the way, every country has a July 4th, only the US celebrates its independence on that day.)

July 6th

A lovely morning here in the park. All the rain really greened things up. Of course the mower people are working hard.
We had a fun 4th of July. Quails provided the brisket and Birthday cake, for the party and we also made LaCharra beans, potato salad, corn on the cob (some of the best I ever had) and tea, Birthday cake and icecream. Rutherfords had their Son Travis and Daughter-in-law, Tiffany and their 3 boys, Garret, Ray, & Nate (whose birthday was the day after the 4th, Irene had her Son, Curt ( we celebrated Curt's birthday also) and wife, Susan and Grandson, Ayden, who had his birthday already the last of June but didn't want a party at home but wanted to come to the park and have his party at the hall like he did last year. Connie and Jack had their Grandaughters, Marian & Page, and Grand son Cameron. the kids all seemed to have a great time playing games and if they won could pick a prize from the prize table we set up,  also the Adults played some of the games. I have a slide show of the party below. there were 53 or so at the party. We had Rose and Rich Willis as guests also. They are on A-8 as her Father had a heart attack and they are down here to be with him. But they have wintered in our park before.
Dorothy Ritter supplied the donuts this morning along with Dorothy Skovbo, no, Dorothy S. isn't here but wanted to go in with Dorothy R. and we were to remember her this morning!!!!Thank you Dorothy S. and yes we are thinking of you and Thank you Dorothy R.
News from Gary Philipp. He said this morning ha had lots of tests and Pet-scan etc. and will know more Mon. or Tues. People are jumping to conclusions that he is having surgery but he doesn't even know that yet. I will keep you informed as soon as we know more . I won't wait until Fri. to write something.
There are cards up to sign, one for Gary Philipp, a card to Deb Powels Daughter on the Death of Deb, a card for Maude Sennert, former resident, fell and broke her spine in 2 places, seems like there was another one but can't remember , I will be writing more Mon. or Tuesday.
