Friday Oct. 22

Halloween is fast approaching. Ken Barnhart has some pretty neat decorations he's been working on. We will have some snacks available but some are bringing snacks to share. Prizes awarded for 1st, 2nd, & 3rd place Halloween Costumes.
Wednesday we had our usual Social Hour and over 40 people came. We had 2 couples that are new to our park, one couple came to the R.V. section to stay one week or so but liked it so much they are going to stay 4 months!they are J.D. & Chris Stevens from Okla. The other couple bought #165, and they are Thomas & Bonnie Cassidy from Spring Valley Calif. I understand they are going back to Calif. and will rent their mobile for 3 months. He is a Minister and they aren't ready to be "Winter Texans" as yet! He is the Brother of Judy DeKoning#67.
We will have to move our Social Hour to the big hall to accomidate everyone from here on out. Anxious for Marc Frana to come down and play for us during the social Hour! Hopefully he will.
Judy Anselmin is now back at the Valley Grande Nursing Home, she is paralized on one side, Mary Loeck had surgery, she had some complications, when I know more I will let you all know.
The Kerr's provided the donuts this morning. We ordinarily wouldnt have donuts next Friday but Connie and Tom Duffy stepped up to provide them. And like I said last week, Martha Millender and The Farley's are providing donuts for our 1st Club meeting.
Oh darn I forgot to mention that Bill Welch has a Birthday this month! Happy Birthday to you Bill! And everyone who had a birthday this month!
I thought these 5 doggies were so cute!

Friday Oct. 21st

We had a nice turnout for coffee and donuts this morning. The Office supplied them this week. Next week The Kerr's are providing them and for our first Club meeting, Farleys and Martha Millender said they would provide them.
We have finally had some cool mornings here, it has been so refreshing, after such a hot hot Summer.
Sorry to say that Judy Anselmin our long time neighbor, fell and broke her back, she had only been home from the Nursing home a few days when it happened and then in the hosp. she had a stroke.
We are having a neat Halloween Party this year,as I reported last week, Fred Goldsberry will play. He plays every kind of music and takes requests. It will be $3.00 per person, wear a costume and get prizes or if you don't want to, that's ok too. a table with snacks provided but if you wish, bring a snack to share.

Lots of Birthdays this month...we had a surprise birthday party on Sue Barnhart. and I know several people who have birthdays this month...Bonnie Bryant, Ann Mitz, Mary Hennigar, Dorothy Skovbo, Penny Rush, Gordon Lamp, Ray Davis, Gene Koliba, and Dale Clark!
Also it's Tom and Mary Lou Benson's ,John and Irene Quail, Fred and Barbara Swaggert, Bill and Pat Hamlet, and Jack and Connie Bardon's anniversary!!

I couldn't resist this...

You know you are to old to Trick or Treat when:

10. You keep knocking on your own front door.

9. You remove your false teeth to change your appearance.

8. You ask for soft high fiber candy only.

7. When someone drops a candy bar in your bag,
and you lose your balance and fall over.

6. People say: 'Great Boris Karloff Mask,'
And you're not wearing a mask.

5. When the door opens you yell, 'Trick or...'
And you can't remember the rest.

4. By the end of the night,
you have a bag full of restraining orders.

3. You have to carefully choose a costume that doesn't dislodge your hairpiece.

2. You're the only Power Ranger in the
neighborhood with a walker.

And the number one reason Seniors should not go
Trick Or Treating...
*
*
*
1. You keep having to go home to pee.

No matter, have a HAPPY HALLOWEEN anyway.
Some short cuts that may help you !!!! HAHAHAH HA HA....

Texting for Seniors

October 14th

A lovely Fall morning here in the Valley!
We had our usual coffee and donuts this morning. Coakleys provided them. We do have some cards up to sign, one for Cleland Thorpe, Hosp. infection, and Clarice Cristensen, pace maker. We read in the Monitor this morning that Pat Harms passed away, remember Daryl and Pat Harms? they were Asst. Mgrs. here for awhile.
We are having a Halloween party, something different this year, we aren't having a meal but having a Halloween Dance. We had planned on having a dance this Fall with Fred Goldsberry, in Nov. but Ken changed the date of Fred coming to Halloween. It's still in the planning stage but besure to bring your costume!!!
We now have two new maintanence men...their names are Omar and Alex. They seem to be very very hard workers and efficient workers.they are both knowledgeable about maintaining our park. Omar replaced Adrian this week and he had been working prior to Adrians dismissal. It will take a load off Jack and Connie to have good help.

Fall Pictures

I just knew Mary Lou Benson would come through with some Fall pictures, but didn't expect them to be from some where other than Iowa. she took these on their trip . they went to Canada, Niagara Falls, Vermont,New Hampshire, and other Eastern states, the Boltes were with them, she said the Fall foliage was late turning this year and were some what disappointed in the Eastern States, Iowa has such a beautiful Fall. They visited Art and Peg Bloom
I just had to add the picture of Tom and Mary Lou going over the Falls in the barrel lol
thank you for the pictures!

Oct. 7th

Oh oh here they come

Hi everyone!
Sorry about not writing last week, there sure wasn't much to write about. The Clements provided the donuts last week and this week the Philipps provided them.I think around 36 showed up. Gary Philipp had eyelid surgery and didn,t come to donuts this morning. He is pretty swollen and has to put ice packs on so Jan and I picked up the donuts.
Sure miss the Fall foliage that we would have in Iowa but a freind of mine from Iowa who spent time in Michigan says the Fall foliage in Michigan is even more beautiful this time of year. If I had some pictures of Fall foliage I would post some for you. Mary Lou?
There are no cards up to sign so hope everyone is feeling good and packing up to head South.
Bobby says the Monitor this morning said the price of gas is $3.31 and diesel is $3.59.
The guys are busy getting the park spiffied up for you all. There is even another maintenance man hired to help.
Mary Freundshuh's Daughter is here visiting.and a few people are back for the Winter.
This Sunday we are having a steak B.B.Q. we bring our own steak to grill and a salad or dessert to share. Our Social Hour on Wed. is going strong. We had a big crowd for that last Wed.
