MERRY CHRISTMAS
Christmas Orkut Scrap
More Animated Orkut Scraps
The greatest gift at Christmastime
is one we all may give -
A friendly smile that helps to make
Life easier to live.
A kindly thought a helping hand,
To show someone you care
And let them know how much it means
For us to have them here.
The greatest gift at Christmastime
Costs not a lot to buy-
It's being a good neighbor
As days and months go buy:
It's offering a shoulder
When someone needs a lift,
And so we pray this Christmas Day
That this may be your gift!
Merry Christmas from Bobby & Donna

It's very windy this morning, a cold front has moved in. I think it's around 72 degrees.
There were quite a few new faces here this morning, more coming in every day. The meeting went as usual with Jack Havertape preciding, Bonnie Bryant led the pledge and Marge Rexroad, Secretary. Peg Haylen is back and played the piano for the singing. Mary Christianson, Invocation
Management off for Veteran's Day and Scott Piper came to our meeting, welcomed all the folks back. He said there's a chance we might get Time Warner Cable to come in and hook all of us upto basic cable, our rent would go up $12.00 that is for everyone including the 99's. Ranchero has this over there already.
Cards sent or waiting to be sent to, Betty Aderton, surgery and Mitzi Hutcheonson having some heart problems.
Velda Lee Clements has been taking care of the Library for us but needs help doing this, she wants someone to volunteer to help her out.
Nancy Argo thanked those who helped on the B.B.Q. night we had this past Sunday. Dec. 16th will be the next one.
Still need someone to Chair Thanksgiving Dinner
Talked about replacing or adding more chairs in the hall, tabled the discussion until a later date.
That's about it.

Our Club Song
Did you all think our club song "For We Love Our Valley Home" was written for our park, possibly by one of our own? Well, it was not. The song was written by a Mr. Boling and his Forty and Eight Quartet many many years ago. One lady said she remembers her Mother singing it in the 30's and another said she sang it at Girl Scout Camp, years ago, also a lady remembers it being sung at school in Brownsville. It has been sung all over the Valley even at Lions Club meetings. Also some remember folks handing out copies of this song at the Progresso Bridge! Just this week a 100 year old lady was interviewed on T.V. (a former Iowan) who came here many years ago and she played the piano and she said her favorite song was.....and she began to play "For we Love Our Valley Home". I was stunned as I always thought that was our song exclusively

The office provided donuts this morning. Bill Clement made the coffee, Bill has been making the coffee this Summer, just about every Friday morning for us...Thanks Bill!
Tickets were sold for the Halloween Party this morning and everyone looking forward to that.
Martha Millender is feeling good after her mastectomy. She says she has not had much pain at all. Clarice Cristensen who fell last week and spent a few days in the hospital is home and even came to our park breakfast yesterday morning. Got a call from Gary Philipp, he is still feeling weak after all he's been through but his appetite is back and we're sure he will keep improving. Rita Henningsen is having health problems, and Becky Rhoades, from Kansas had her liver surgery and is doing good, her surgery is a type of surgery with a long recovery time, we need to put these folks on our prayer list!
Remember Inge Hunsecker? She is living in Llano Grande Lake Park now, her and her husband Ron lived here years ago.She is celebrating her 50th year as a U.S. citizen, and proud of it. Ron brought her from Germany.
We are to get a cold front moving in tonight, lows down in 60's in the morning. I've already got my coat out ready for the cold!!!!
Even thogh you aren't here yet we are thinking of you and praying for a safe and enjoyable trip down here to spend another year at R.V.E.

What a beautiful morning after our most welcome rain last night. Just as I was headed for Bingo at the Elks, the wind really picked up and the sky was threatning, and by the time we started our games it was really pouring down. I hear we got 1 inch to 1 1/2 inches.
Aloyce and Dave Berglund provided donuts this morning! We only had around 37 there, I was surprised since quite a few people have come in but weren't at donuts. She had the best assortment and also brought fresh from the oven little round apple filled somethings with a glaze on top. I think the office provides them next Friday and that will be the last Friday coffee and donuts. And of course we will have coffee and donuts at the Mon. morning meetings.
There are cards up to sign, one to Betty Aderton, having a very difficult time, she's in the hospital with a bad internal infection, still trying to determine where it's coming from, she was given some medication that made her heart act up so she was put in ICU for a couple days, now she's in a regular room. Also a card for Carolyn Thomson, her Father died, and a card to Mary Hennigar for her 75th birthday. Martha Millender is supposed to have surgery today, I believe. She has a cancerous lump on one breast so she's opted for a mastectomy.
Irene and John Quail are here now, she has had a surgical procedure done on her foot and is wearing a boot.
We had a very good dinner at the new "Peckers" bar and cafe, it's located where the El Jalisco restaurant was, you pass home depot on Westgate going North and turn right within a half block. Later after 9:00 it's quite a young folks hangout, Karaoke, dancing etc.Several people have told me that where the Taco Cabana was there by Discount tires, ( Denny's area), there's a Carl Jr's hamburger joint coming in there.
Regular gas is around $3.36 - $3.37.
I will post on the blog about every Monday now instead of Friday when our meetings get under way. Probably just put in some of the highlights of the meeting etc. and also other tid bits I think you might be interested in.
We are still having record breaking heat here, upper 90's, today was an exception because of the nice rain last night, but yesterday it was 102 and the next week upper 90's again.
So long for now!

Wednesday social Hour
Bill Welch brought his helicopter to Social Hour yesterday! It takes a lot of skill to run the thing, landing it where you want, taking off etc. He does a great job with it. I understand they're quite pricey (these big boy toys)
Jacque Anderson had just gotten in, the Norris's from the back side across from Red, Bobby, & Ken
It was Sue Barnharts Birthday! Here she is holding up her macrame plant hanger I made for her.

Friday Coffee & Donuts
Anita Farley, Martha Millender, & Sue Barnhart provided the donuts this morning.Nothing special discussed. Several new faces this morning. It's fun to see who all comes in and hope everyone has a safe trip down.
Next Wednesday our Social Hour will move into the big hall, as the group is getting pretty big.
As some may know Lenius's had a wreck on the way down and totaled their car. They are here now stiff and sore but ok!
We are looking forward to a fun Halloween Party this month. Fred will be playing again this year, so get your costumes ready!

Happy Friday
Orkut Scraps
Gary and Jan Philipp provided donuts this morning...no, they aren't even here yet but wanted to provide them. Bobby picked them up and made coffee.
We have some cards up for, Betty Aderton, had back surgery today, Maxine, Hazel Bococks Mother is quite ill and in the hospital, Harel and Betty Aderton, Harel's twin Brother passed away, also a card to one of my childhood friends, wife, Becky Rhoades who will be having major surgery to remove some of her pancreas and stomach, she is also a good friend of the Argo's, she and her husband, Denny Rhoades, were here last winter in the R.V. section and are from Kansas.
There was quite a gathering of folks to watch our new Asst. mgrs. mobile home come in from Harlingen. They put it where Lavada's mobile was. It's a pretty thing!
How they can back those things in one try is just amazing. It's an 18 wide.
Sorry I posted kind of late, I forgot!!

This month has really gone by fast. It still is hot here, upper 90's. Thankful for some nice rains this week. We didn't have anyone sign up to provide donuts today but Mary Hennigar and Patty Lamp signed up finally, so thank you gals! We have a few new faces in the park as of this week, Mile Stensland is here now, and Blooms are back.
Our heater in the pool was repaired after 3 months and now the hot tub was cold last night. It was nice and warm quite soon thank goodness it wasn't something major. Always something.
Those darn skunks are still running around the park after dark, I saw one Thursday evening just 2 doors down from Dorie Rosendahls, behind us. I understand that there was one caught near where Rutherfords lived but when the Animal Control came, they let it go again! They are not supposed to pick up Skunks, because of rabies. You would think that would be a reason to pick them up.
We sure enjoy going to Tex-Mex on Thursday mornings, good breakfast and fellowship. Our waiter, Carlos, sang for us again yesterday morning, "Rancho Grande", and "Before the Next Teardrop Falls".
Here's his picture...
You don't have to ask twice and he will serenade you!
Betty Aderton said she has back surgery on the 5th of Oct. And Jacque Anderson has shoulder surgery this next week. I feel bad as we sent Nancy Argo's Granddaughter a card, Ann, she's still recuperating from a bad concussion, and the card came back, well, atleast, Nancy we were thinking of her and of course the anxiety you have had is so hard on the family, and thinking about you also, please tell Ann about the card.I did get an email from Arlene Jass, and Gary has been busy this Summer, getting radiation, etc. for his Cancer, and looking forward to coming back down this Fall. Gary Philipp called the other day and said his radiation was over for the Cancer in his one lung, and he has a different form of it in his other lung, and they are treating it totally different than the other lung, and will have 5 days of radiation in it in October, looking for them to come down towards the end of October.

F.Y.I.
Many of us have been wondering what the huge building is on the corner of Panther Dr. and Border. It is the new Weslco High School Music Hall. It is over 22,800 Sq,ft. It is for marching band, concert band, Jazz, Mariachi, choir and other things associated with music. There are rehearsal rooms, storage rooms for each musical group, a music library, uniform storage and prop rooms. Also we could not figure out why the 4 silos on the South side of the building were for, well, they are to collect rain water to use for the facility's landscape!
I bet some of you didn't know it but...This visitor side of the big stadium across from our park was built by my husband, Bobby in 1990, originally was on the other side but was moved to the East side and they erected a larger home side a few years back.

Thursday morning we went to Tex-Mex for breakfast we had a big group, our waiter sang Happy Birthday to Doris Davis in Spanish and English, very nice, Paul came today also! Also our waiter sang "Before the Next Teardrop Falls" He didn't know the English part so Mary L. brought the lyrics up with her phone. He did a super job. I took the 1st picture this morning, you know it's darn hard to take pictures of Hummingbirds, they do not sit still for long! This 2nd picture I took yesterday, they can hardly wait for you to refill their feeders. I tried to hold the feeder to see if they would land on my hand like they did last year, and sure enough they did.
There were quite a few for coffee and donuts this morning Rexroads provided them again.
I made 3 cards this week, one for Anne, Nancy Argos Grandaughter, who had a set back from her concussion, a card for Bill Welch, on the death of Joyce, and a card to Beverly Meyer, a lady so many of us here in the park know, who plays Bridge and comes here quite often, she lives in Progresso Lakes, and she has so many health problems.
Not much to report, Mgrs. on vacation , no pool heater fixed, (too cold for me.)
On a personel note, some of us went to a surprise birthday party for Inge Hunsecker, some of you remember her and her Husband Ron? They lived in our park for several years. Ron passed away close to a year ago. She lives at Llano Grande Park now.
We also went to the Elks here and had their chicken fried steak Thursday, They have that and home made pizza every other Thursday nights.
Untill next time byeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

Donna - Weslaco game
We went up to the gate and in the 1st quarter it was 14 to 0 Panthers ahead, ended up Donna 28 our Panthers 14. Too bad, I think there was some trouble afterwards, some sirens going off for awhile.

Friday September 7th
I took a picture of Gils Trucks of G & G Concrete Works, in front of the park, he does so much of the concrete work here in our park. He does an outstanding job, so if you ever need a sidewalk, foundation, or driveway poured he's the one to call!
No cards up to sign! That's good news. Haven't had any up all week.
More good news....we are to see some 90 - 93 degree temps this week. We'll have to get out our jackets! The month of August and first week of Sept. has been the hottest yet. 100-105 every day.
We had about 25 for Coffee and Donuts this morning. Darlene Bryant and Clarice Christensen provided them. It was really weird that so many of us wore purple so I took a picture!!
Dorothy Ritter had on her purple swimming suit as you can see, well you can kind of see it, lol. Well...........when there's not much news, you improvise.
Poured concrete today on lot 95.Getting ready to bring in our Asst. Mgrs. mobile.
Big game across the street, Donna and our Weslaco Panthers. They hadn't played in 4 years as there was trouble after a game back then, so there will be a packed stadium tonight.Big rivals!
