Gary, Ken, & Denny, had a good day of fishing again!
5 Reds and 3 trout. A little tired fighting some wind today, but the weather has been beautiful so far this Spring. Highs are near 90, lows around 70.

Benson's Catch
You may have seen this on Facebook as I posted this as soon as Mary Lou sent me the pictures, then I saw she had already posted it on Facebook. Anyway here is some pictures of their big catch!

We had a pretty good turnout for Coffee and Donuts this morning but not as many as there has been, I know some are getting ready to leave on short trips and probably a few forgot. Secorra came this morning, it was good seeing her there. she works at Well's uptown Weslaco.
Summer Activity Director, Sue, had a sign-up sheet to pass around for our Mother's Day Dinner. The men are cooking up a wonderful meal for us. B.B.Qued Chicken! Ken ask for a couple volunteers to help. We may have home made icecream for dessert.
We have a chair recently purchased at Sam's to try and see how we like it. It sits pretty good but after a short time it isnt too comfortable, in my opinion.
Not much news concerning park projects but Connie said the other day they are going to put another filter on water coming into the hot tub to hopefully keep the rust from forming. The park looks really really neat and trim!!! the guys are doing great.
We are playing "Pokeno" some. It is fun and something to do on a Sunday afternoon. We also played this week on Thursday afternoon.
Our "Social Hour" was this Wednesday. We had some tasty appetizers! We played some "tic" after. And there was a table playing "Hand & Foot". We discussed this morning about having the "Social Hour" twice a month and inbetween on Wed. we would just have light snacks and visit in the card room.
Sue also mentioned if someone has ideas for some other entertaining events to bring them up next week. Some do go out to breakfast every Thursday mornings at "Tex-Mex".

Hail
"Hailstorm hammers the Valley"
This was the headlines in this mornings Monitor! It missed us ! The weather man said we were to get storms late yesterday and we got em! A few hailstones as large as baseballs spotted in Mission and McAllen. Most of the hail was dime to nickle sized. But mostly rain. It was a very fast moving storm and there were some Tornado warnings. And again Weslaco was spared! We didn't even get much rain. It seems the storm went into Mexico before getting into our area, it was heading S.E. When we went out to eat the sky was really dark South of us and East of us. there were hail warnings for Southern Hidalgo County and of course I was nervous. Seeing how dark the sky was East of us I thought that couldn't have gone over us without heavy rain or hail but it did.

Friday April 20th
Aloyce and Dave Berglund provided the donuts this morning. We had an even bigger turnout than last Friday, of course some may have forgotten about it last week. I count 44 but I think a few came in after that. Some guests were here this morning, Sue Barnharts Sister and Husband are still here visiting and The Farleys Son and his girlfriend are here visiting, also Bill Clements Son and wife are here. A short duscussion on what we might do for Mother's Day but no suggestions, and we talked about the little xmas light string around the Veteran's Board, some don't care for that , some of the lights are even burned out and some are saying maybe they might take those lights down. We did decide we would have finger food Wed. evening! Also on Sunday afternoons we are going to play Pokeno, it's a bingo-poker kind of game. Darlene Bryant has suggested it and we will see how that goes. I know from experience it's a lot of fun to play!
We are to get some rain late this afternoon, which we need, since the last storms kind of went North of us.
Party pictures coming up!!!!!!!! Watch for them!

Friday donuts
We just came from our 1st Friday, coffee and donuts. The office provided them this morning. We had quite a few folks show up. Around 42.
There are several cards up to sign. One to Irene Quail who had back surgery. She is home but in quite alot of pain. Also a card to Ann Thorpe who had her 2nd eye surgery this month. And a card to Penny Rush who is in the hospital.
There were several guests at this Fridays coffee and donuts, Sue and Ken brought Sues Sister, Jan and her husband Doc. And Jo Solberg had her Daughter, Toni Engelhardt and Son, Scott, and his girlfriend Vanessa, and Scotts Son, Caleb.
Sue Barnhart was elected Summer program director lol She had left the room for a few minutes and was unaminously voted in!!!!
Beleive me we will have some fun parties and get-togethers this Summer.
Our Assistant mgr. Sam was there, he is a very friendly guy and I think he will make a great Asst. mgr.
The maintenance men are hard at it. We see them working hard in the park.
Until next week....have a great week and glad to hear everyone made the drive home safely as far as I know.

Ron Hunsecker
Some of you will remember Ron and Inge Hunsecker. Ron passed away, I believe it was on the 3rd. There was a memorial Service at Llano Grande Hall Friday and quite a few folks from here went to the service.
Irene Quail will be having back surgery next week.
We are looking forward to Easter dinner, the hall was decorated Friday morning by Mary Lou, Jan, & Sue. It really looks pretty. I will post some pictures from Easter Dinner later.
I took this picture at Maria Walton/Gordon's mobile the other day. They have a cute new puppy. Her Desert Rose plant that was given to her by Mary Freundshuh is gorgious!
