Former Resident passes away

Jean (McCann) White passed away in her sleep her funeral is Saturday. She was very involved in our park for many years. We will remember her fondly. She loved to recite stories and did readings, she was like a female "Bob Hope" and Emceed many events. She was especially close to Rex and Marge Rexroad and I am sure they will miss her too. Sedan- Hazel Jeane (McCann) White, age 94, of Sedan passed away Monday, June 10, 2013 at her home in Sedan, Kansas



She was born September 4, 1918 in Oxford, Kansas to Earl Evans and Sally Mern (Bussard) Evans.



On April 10, 1937 she married Elmer Floyd McCann in Ada, Oklahoma. Together they traveled in Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas and Illinois while Mr. McCann worked in the oilfields. They moved back to Kansas in 1943 and lived in Oxford, Lyons, Arkansas City, Longton and El Dorado. While they lived in Longton, Kansas they owned the movie theater, grocery store, and farmed. In 1962 they purchased a clothing and furniture store in Sedan. He preceded her in death on February 27, 2008.



On June 6, 2009 she married E. Paul White and they made their home in Sedan and wintered in Texas. They enjoyed sight-seeing and traveling. He preceded her in death on April 28, 2013.



She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Sedan for many years and also enjoyed shopping and wintering in Texas for over thirty five years.



She is survived by two sons; Dean McCann of Sedan, Kansas and Kent McCann and wife Liliana of Bartlesville, Oklahoma; one brother, Max Evans of McKinney, Texas; one sister, Connie Presley of Bixby, Oklahoma; ten grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.



She was preceded in death by husbands Elmer McCann and E. Paul White, three daughters, Katrina McCann, Carol Oursler, and Caren Stephens and her parents.



Funeral Services will be held Saturday, June 15, 2013 at the First Baptist Church in Sedan with Reverend Gene DeWitt officiating. Burial will follow at the Greenwood Cemetery in Sedan.

Also Clarice Christensen's Son, Johnny died today. He came to our park for lots of functions with his wife Carmen, and up to a couple years ago always came one day a week and helped Clarice with different things. Johnny has been in very bad health especially the last few years.
This Spring Clarice sold her mobile #48 and moved to Mason City, Ia. and likes her new apartment there. And she is closer to her Daughter.
