Linda Witt Obituary

Obituary

Linda Dianne Witt, age 76, of Centerville, passed away Tuesday, February 9, 2021 at MercyOne Medical Center in Centerville.

Linda was born on January 8, 1945 in Centerville, Iowa, the daughter of Marvin and Elouise (Walter) Gardner.  She attended Moravia schools and graduated from Moravia High School with the Class of 1963.  On March 21, 1964, she was united in marriage to Paul Dean Witt at the Grace United Methodist Church in Moravia.  To this union, three children were born, Rod, Denise and Carie.

Linda loved creating things, and did so when she was a floral designer for many years.  When her children were young, she was always involved in their activities.  She loved being a room mother at school when the kids were younger.  Linda also taught Girl Scouts in Moravia for a period of time, and attended the Lighthouse Church of the Nazarene in Moravia for many years.  She loved being an active member of the Hospital Auxiliary in Centerville for many years, designing flower arrangements and anything else she could help with.

Linda loved having family get togethers on the weekends.  Most importantly, she loved her family deeply, and was always mindful of her grandchildren’s extra-curricular activities.  She loved watching sports, and later in life, she began golfing, which she became very good at.  Linda thoroughly enjoyed sitting on her porch with Paul drinking coffee, and watching the animals. She had a kind heart, and could get along with anyone.

Left to cherish Linda’s memory are her husband of almost 57 years, Paul Witt of Centerville; her children, Rod (Shari) Witt of Centerville, Denise (Stuart) DeBruin of Albia, and Carie Leon of Centerville; six grandchildren, Bailey (Ryan) Sales Brandon (Shaniel) DeBruin, Hannah (Cale) Childers, Sydney (Fiance' Andy) DeBruin, Taylor Marienau, and Claire Marienau; two great grandchildren, Toryn Sales and Orlo DeBruin; siblings, Yvonne (Paul) Horel of Olathe, Kansas, Rita (and the late, Maurice) Paradis of Kensington, Connecticut, and Dennis (Jennifer) Gardner of Moravia, Iowa; as well as several other family members.

Funeral services will be held at 11AM, Saturday, February 13, 2021 at Lange Funeral Home in Moravia with Pastor Terry Chapman officiating.  Cremation will follow the service.  Burial will take place at a later date at Hillcrest Cemetery in Moravia.  Visitation will take place Saturday, February 13, 2021, beginning at 8:00AM, with the family greeting friends from 9:00AM-11:00AM at Lange Funeral Home in Moravia.  Memorials have been established to EveryStep Hospice of Centerville, and may be mailed to Lange Funeral Home and Crematory, C/O Witt Family, 1900 South 18th Street, Centerville, Iowa 52544.  Condolences may be shared online at www.langefh.com.
