July 7th

You're going to need a boat to get around the Valley.

Yesterday it kept raining really hard and I had to get to the Dermatologist to check a small growth I had removed, I called to cancel and she said the next appointment would be in August....I was very anxious to find out the results of my biopsy so I ventured out in the rain. But, the city was just placing barracades at Pike and Westgate, and also just a few feet before Panther Drive. Well, I wondered what should I do? I had to get to the Dr. so I went thru an opening between the barracades. Flooded roads and very deep water at intersections. I got there no problem. Waited almost 2 hours and was told I had a basil cell carcinoma, the Dr. took such a big area and quite deep and said he got all of it and I don't need to come back for 3 months just to check it. What a relief. Coming home it had been raining just gently and all the streets were clear but still barracades for me to get in the Park, so I crossed the parking lot at the High School and zipped right in the park. I think it's rained all night and will probable rain some today. Mercedes got hit really bad with 7.4 inches of rain yesterday and Weslaco, about 5 inches. Sounds like we will have moderate rainfall until tomarrow night. But Cameron county is supposed to get heavy rain. Our drainage here in the park was so good, so thankful for that.

Donna Rothman in #99 got her car stolen right in her driveway while they were attending the potluck on the 4th. She had left the keys in the car. So most making sure things are locked up and of course no keys left in the cars.

July 5th

We had a great turnout for the 4th potluck.  So good to get b ack to some normalcy. 3 new people in the park came. Planning Happy Hour back again. We had this in the small hall and should have had it in the big hall. Too much trouble hauling in chairs and long tables. Jan helped bring in chairs and Patty Lamp decorated with red, white and blue, very nice!! Nice that our management couples came.We played "tic"after.

Some spotty showers around the Valley for the next week. May get in the 80's to upper 80's.So that will help cool us down a bit. Actually we have been running below average of 95, but 90 isstill hot!!! Espeically with high humidity.

The pool still open but of course not the jacuzzi
