RVE CLUB MEETING – Chair Judy Nordquist called meeting to order. We recited “Pledge to the Flag” & sang “God Bless America”. Meeting closed by singing club song, ”We Love Our Valley Home”.

Notes from chairperson –

“Please watch your speed when driving in the park. Speed limit is 15 mph.”

“If you would be willing to give invocation at a Monday meeting, let me know. I’m at #77.”

“I talked to managers. Filters & ceiling fans have been cleaned. Working on heat issue and potholes.”

“Election for two spots on club board is coming up. If you are interested in serving on either Properties or Finance committee, let me know. Refer to your park directory for list of duties.”

Board Members -- Properties – George Morgan, Lynn Stamp, Mark Probst; Finance – Vicki Davis, Gordon Amos, Sandy Olson. If you have issues to present, contact any board member. They sit in a group toward the right front of Friendship Hall prior to Monday meeting.

Virginia Baker gave Secretary report. It was approved.

Sandy Olson gave Treasurer’s report, accepted.

Mark Probst reported for Properties, thanking residents who fill his truck with recyclable items. Mark asked folks who leave cans to please wash them. Ron Henderson spoke about the ladder we use, saying it is unsafe. He felt we should purchase a new one. We voted to approve the purchase.

TY to Patty Lamp who served coffee & donuts today. There is a signup sheet if you wish to provide donuts in honor of a special occasion. Give your name to Sandy Olson & your name will be announced. If no one signs up, club pays the $30 cost. Bring donuts by 8:15 a.m.

If you don’t have an RVE name tag, check with Donna Gabbert who makes these. We encourage folks to wear them.

Donna Gabbert puts cards in office area for your signature. If you know of someone needing card due to illness or death in family, call her at 956-968-6684. Card this week was for Sue/Ken Barnhart, death of Sue’s sister Janet.

Ed Tice & crew will serve breakfast of pancakes, sausage & applesauce the next two Saturdays. Serving is 7-8:30 a.m. Bring own table service. Price is $4 pp. Any volunteers to prepare Saturday breakfasts in March?

Craig Daves, dance chair, encourages all to come enjoy tonight’s dance, 7–9:30 p.m. Roger Kenaston will be with us. Admission is $7 pp. BYOB. TY to Catherine Gibbs & others who decorated windows for Valentine’s Day. Craig said tonight the hall will look like a Valentine Party. You may reserve table after 4 p.m.

Marylyn Mason urges all to attend Helen Russsell Show this Friday night, 7 p.m. Tickets are $8 pp. We’ll have 50-50 draw.

Some folks, even those who are vaccinated, may be concerned about spread of COVID. Feel free to wear mask to any event/activity.

Next Monday, Feb. 21, we will have our annual Memorial Service to remember residents & former residents who have passed away. Pastor Johnie McDaniel will conduct the 8:45 a.m. service. Since no service was held last year, our list includes 2020 & 2021. A nice Anniversary Party was held yesterday to honor these five couples in our park .. Ken/Sue Barnhart, Vern/Marilyn Cummins, Al/Sandy Lenius,  & Lynn/Jean Stamp. Emcee Kathy Cochran thanked all who helped with the event .. committee chair Dana Daves & past honorees who served on committee; Vic Greenlee, speaker; Patty Shellito, invitations/name tags; Deb Hostetter, flower decorations; Mark/Cathy Probst, music; Carolyn Thomsen, photographer; and these helpers..(hopefully not missing any!) Arleta Blevins, Donna Holker, Mary/Marv Weeder, Chuck/Nancy Gonnerman, Ron/Lois Henderson & David Cochran.

For residents’ information, code to unlock all doors is 7157. Last one out locks up.

Dave Johnson at Lot #93 has new park directories, $2 each, at Monday meetings.

Winner of the Queen Size Quilt was Chuck Gonnerman.

Happy Hour will be this Wed. at 4 p.m. Bring snacks & choice of beverage. If you would be willing to host a Happy Hour, sign up on board.

Couples’ Line Dance will not be held during February as instructor Judy Shively will not be here.

David Alquist will be here Feb. 22, 1:30 p.m. to talk to residents about their results from Blood Profile Tests done last week. He will be in the sewing room behind

stage.

Arlene & Rollo Fisher chair the Iowa Dinner in Feb. 24. This is a NOON potluck with no charge. See signup sheet.

ROPA Queen Pat Printy announces a ROPA Style Show is March 3, 1 p.m. $1 pp. Some have indicated they will help but she is needing models. If you would be willing to model but have no outfit, contact Pat at #219 & she’ll have something for you. Feel free to model ANY outfit you may have, could be from thrift store, Good Will, etc. Theme of show will be announced next week.

Ladies’ Salad/Dessert Luncheon will be held Thursday, March 10, at noon. Bring $1 & salad or dessert. Janel Baker, Jean Stamp, Judy Shively are chairing the event.

March 17 Mark & Linda Kunkle are hosting a Pork Loin Dinner….4:30 social hour, plan to eat at 5:30. They encourage “wearing of the green”. Cost is $10 per plate. Tickets will be on sale March 7.

Kathy Cochran & some Illinois folks are looking to host a summer fun get-together. This will be in Cobden, IL in August. Aug. 11-14 is tentative date. There is a signup sheet in back of hall to see how many people would be interested. No obligation if you sign up, they are just wanting to know how much interest there is. Planning this are Catherine Gibbs, Carleen Basler, Judy DeKoning & Kathy. This will be known as the Apple Knocker Rio Valley Estates Peachy Picnic.
