Friday June 1st

Well, it's really heating up here in S. Texas. Upper 90's about every day. We need rain so bad but there's none in the forecast. Everything is so dust covered, the dirt work on the drainage ditch makes for alot of the dust blowing. Paul and Doris Davis provided the donuts this morning. There are some cards up to sign this week, a card for Harell Aderton, shingles, Paul Davis is in the hospital, Grant Harter Sr. in the hospital, and a card for Tammy Lohmann, her husband died, this was Kay Gibsons Son-in-law.

I just got word that our sweet little neighbor doggy, Spirit, has crossed over the Rainbow Bridge, she had diabetus and was not doing well the last few months. Our Sympathy to the Southworth's, they will sure miss that little dog.

Apartment complex

A brand new 16 unit apartment complex is now here in the park!
built by Bobby. Within 24 hours there were a pair looking at the new apartments! In and out and acting quite excited, there was even a third resident interested in an apartment. The one fellow chased off a large pale yellow breasted guy several times as if to say "Hey this is our new home". We are so excited about this as we have read it that one should not get too disappointed if they don't get any interested lookers for up to 2 years and it has only been less than 24 hrs! Located on Barnharts corner! Picture below...

 Memorial Day

- C W Johnson

We walked among the crosses

Where our fallen soldiers lay.

And listened to the bugle

As TAPS began to play.

The Chaplin led a prayer

We stood with heads bowed low.

And I thought of fallen comrades

I had known so long ago.

They came from every city

Across this fertile land.

That we might live in freedom.

They lie here 'neath the sand.

I felt a little guilty

My sacrifice was small.

I only lost a little time

But these men lost their all.

Now the services are over

For this Memorial Day.

To the names upon these crosses

I just want to say,

Thanks for what you've given

No one could ask for more.

May you rest with God in heaven

From now through evermore.

Have a great Memorial Weekend. We will be enjoying potluck with everyone here in the park.
This morning Mary Freundshuh and Gene Koliba provided the donuts. Our crowd seems to be getting smaller and smaller. We did have a good turn-out for Social Hour, Wednesday. The new residents, in 165, Tom and Bonnie  Cassidy were there. Tom is a retired Minister. Thursday Barnharts, Cassidy's and Bobby and I went to Salazars Reataurant for the burgers and home made fries.!
No cards up to sign! So guess everyone is doing good and staying well!
Ranchero folks are coming to use our pool as work is being done around their pool, but now our heater is broke. The water is getting pretty cold. We will see how long people will brave the cold water.

New digital electric meters

This is our new "Smart Meter" ! AEP is in the process of changing out the old electric meters with these "smart meters", it's a digital meter. the electric co. will no longer have to have a meter reader come out and read your meter. Soon your new meter will detect power outages and we dont have to call them, so repairs can begin quickly.
You will be able to better understand your usage habits and make decisions to help lower your bill, you can go on line and view your daily use etc. I am reading and reporting what the brochure that was left on our door about the new meter. You have to go on line and register on.... smartmetertexas.com website. You will have to have your meters No. and also an I.D. no. which will be on your electric bill. I don't know if this site will be up and running really soon or what. This is of course for those in the mobiles and those who pay electric bills through the electric co. not the 99's

Friday May 18th

We are saddened this week to learn of Lorraine Studors death. We sent a card to George. She had a rough Winter here this year. A card was sent.
There is a card up for Linda Bower who's in the hospital.

Even tho some of our year-rounders are gone for awile we still had a pretty good turn-out for coffeee and donuts this morning. We discussed what we were going to do on Memorial Day. We decided just a potluck will do. Darlene said she would make iced tea.
The donuts were provided by Aderton's. Harell is suffering so from shingles and has had them a very long time.

We had visitors this morning, Wayne and Kay Carter who bought #246, Bobby Thomas's mobile, are here for a few days. They are from Waco,TX.

All the lawns in the park look so nice, mowing people doing a great job.

Not much to write about this week, beautiful weather, cool mornings and evenings, humidity has been low so far.
If you need a card for someone call me, I have a new cell phone but the no. is the same.
