Friday June 27th

Thanks Darlene Ales for sending me this great picture of Harris and Patti Shellito and Jim and you , taken in Branson.

Here's a great picture of Ray and Margaret Davis on their 70th wedding anniversary, Mary Lou Benson took this picture when they attended their party on their way to visit Tom's Son in Colorado, thanks Mary Lou for sending the picture. While in Denver the Benson's visited the Botanical gardens there. The flowers and plants were gorgeous but so were the fantastic blown glass  sculptures by a man named Dale Chihovy located thruout the gardens...here's some of the pictures

We have had over 2 inches of rain in the last 3 or 4 days and a good chance of spotty showers tomarrow. Now we are back to the pretty green lawns. Yestersay the winds really picked up, the storm lasted too long for my liking lol you know me I hate storms...but we got a great rain out of it. Ron and Terry Ruser lost a branch off the big yucca tree, I think that's what you call them

Wednesday at social hour someone said 2 bikes were stolen here in the park. One from Havertapes and one from Ken Meyer.

A large Skunk was caught last Sunday. Hopefully we won't have any more visiting the park this Summer. I think that makes 3
Many many rabbits tho.

The Southworths who live across from us just came back from a fabulous trip to Hawaii. 10 days, to celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary. congratulations to them!

Dorothy Ritter provided donuts this morning.

Oh, I forgot to mention...the field to the West of the park has been m owed or atleast they attempted to mow it, there's big piles of brush and tree limbs but alot of the grass is mowed down. There's talk that there will be some sort of housing going in there, we had first thought the school had purchased it butm guess not.

That's all for now. Stay in touch and keep sending pictures of what you all are up to and anything you think we might enjoy hearing about!!

June 20th

There's not much new news to report today.
It's been very hot here, no rain!!!
This morning John and Irene Quail provided the donuts. Small crowd.
The park will be overlaying the streets with that tar stuff as the barrels are sitting down by where John quail parks his motor home. Too bad they're not resurfacing with the black top.
I watched a Skunk sniffing around out in the holding area. He stays under the old storage shed back there.

Applebees is open and many cars there all day and evening...Some from the park have been there and liked it. It won't be long before Chik-fil-A will open, such a nice building with a kids play area.
Chick-fil-A

Unless there's something new you might be interested in hearing this will be all until next Friday!

Ornamental Pineapple Plants

Jack Havertape was telling me about his ornamental pineapple plants. I took a couple pictures of them. I dont know if they have ever produced a pineapple yet or not. They are easy to start, just chop off the top of a ripe pineapple and take off an inch or so of the lower leaves, most of the juicy part, let the root end dry for  a few days then you can start them in water or plant them directly in a pot. It takes 2 or 3 years to produce a pineapple, they will be smaller than normal. Once they produce a pineapple that's the only one that they produce. After a couple years if a pineapple has not started growing you take a red apple and stick slices down in the center of the plant and let it rot, something in the apple will spur the plant to start growing a pineapple. There's also a dwarf pineapple which you may find in your super market. (Research)
I saw my first one at Herb McClishes, it had a lovely pineapple growing, it was neat, he still has the plant and also something strange I saw by his house was a cotton plant growing...it has an open boll and a flower...

You can grow a cotton plant easily by putting a couple seeds in a pot and when they germinate remove the weaker plant and let it grow. I will have to ask him about his cotton plant when he gets home again.  lol
