Former Resident Ione Alwin Passes





Ione Alwin, 100 years of age, of Centralia, died April 10, 2017 at Stuart House, Centralia. She was born Dec. 20, 1916 the daughter of Norman Twiet and Minnie (Johnson) Twiet in Dresser, Wisc. On Aug. 21, 1937 she was married to Lloyd Alwin and her preceded her in death. She was a charter member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Centralia. She was a teacher in Wisconsin from 1935 thru 1941; went to Detroit, Mich in 1942; Long Beach, Calif from 1945-1950 (war time); then moved to Missouri in 1950 and started stores in Stover, Brunswick and Centralia; Warrensburg and Sedalia, where they lived for approximately 10 years and retired. They returned to Centralia in 2003. In retirement they wintered in Weslaco and San Benito, Texas for 33 years.
Survivors include Daughter Susan Hulen, Centralia; Grandchildren: Tim Hulen and wife Kelly, Columbia; Phil Hulen, Centralia; Five Great-Grandchildren: Christain, Joshua, Kate, Allison and Claire. She is also survived by sister Theoline Isaacson of Wisconsin; one brother Sumner Twiet.
She was preceded in death by son-in-law Roy E. (Shorty) Hulen.
Services will be held at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 2201 W. Gano Chance Dr., Centralia on Saturday, April 15, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until time of service. Officiating will be Rev. John Butcher, Pastor, Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. Enturnment will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens, Centralia.
