MANAGEMENT REPORT: Manager Craig Daves gave report. The box for toys to be given to Weslaco Police Dept. Toy Drive remains in the office. We were reminded if we wish to do construction or cement work, we must talk to either Ken or Craig as it must be approved. Concerning vendors in RVE, about 90% are hired by the park. When asked about time of gate closing/opening, Craig said 7 a.m. opens, closes at 6 p.m. (unless dance/entertainment night). Website for park is riovalleyestates.com
For those new to Rio Valley Estates, complete forms showing home address, phone & lot number. Current residents who have changes should complete one too. Find forms in Friendship Hall or office area. Complete & give to Dave Johnson at #93 as he prepares directories.

Treasurer GordonAmos gave his report & it was approved. Properties chair Ron Zoeller said roasters have been returned as not suitable for our purpose. Nothing else new from Ron.

It was announced Darlene Bryant will be having heart surgical procedure this week.

Marylyn Mason reminds us the children from Cleckler Elementary School will entertain Friday, Dec. 20, 7 p.m. Come enjoy sounds of the holiday season, $5 pp at door with all proceeds going to the school.

Join your friends in Friendship Hall each Wednesday afternoon, 4 p.m. for Social Hour. Bring snacks to share & your own beverage.

Park Breakfast is at Fiesta Tex-Mex every Thursday, 8 a.m. Everyone welcome.

We voted to have Club pay for donuts at our Monday meetings. If you wish to celebrate a special birthday, anniversary, etc. by furnishing donuts, that would be fine. Give the board $25 to cover the expense.

There are two boxes in Friendship Hall where you may place items for workers Roberto & Jesse. Please do NOT place outdated or perishable items in boxes! This will be presented at Dec. 23 meeting. Thanks to Irene Quail #49 who organizes this. She will take monetary donations if you would rather do that.

We approved giving $350 total from the Club to employees (management & workers).

Thanks to all who helped decorate our hall/stage for the holidays .. Catherine Gibbs & Debbie Stelwagen in particular for the window treatments!

Bible Study is held Tuesdays, 6 p.m. in dart room with John McDaniel.

Dean Ricke announces Park Pizza Parties will begin in January….2nd & 4th Wednesdays.

Would you like to read to elementary school children at Cleckler School? You may contact Irene at 956-472-9146.

Contact Vicki Davis #252 if you would like a table for the Feb. 6 Craft Sale. She & Arleta Blevins co-chair. Only a couple tables remain! (must be handmade items). There will be lunch with sandwiches & homemade pies.

Judy Nordquist has a new project going. She is making mats for homeless kids, shelters. These are 3 x 6 ft. in size, don’t get wet, and are warm. They are made of plastic bags such as Walmart, Heb, etc. Don’t throw your plastic bags away! Donate to this worthwhile cause.

Charilyn Hover tells us Weslaco Centennial Grand Finale with fireworks will be staged on Lackey Field across from RVE, 7 p.m.!!

The Ladies’ Wine/Cheese Party is Tuesday, Dec. 10,

3 p.m. Bring a wine glass in a bag for exchange, a bottle of wine to share & $3. Bring non-alcoholic beverage if you wish. There will be bartenders. Please sign up so a count can be taken. Judi DeKoning chairs.

The Gentlemen’s Party will be held Thursday, Dec. 12, 3 p.m. Bring a cocktail glass in a gift bag, a small bottle of liquor or 6 pack of beer & $3. There is signup sheet. Chairs are Kathy Cochran & Judi DeKoning. Kathy tells us there will be 2 bartenders who will put your name on your bottle. If you bring beer, you may keep that at your seat. She said ”there might be some surprises” at party!

Upcoming Events

The Italian Dinner so popular last season will be held Tuesday, Dec. 17, social hour 4:30, dinner served at 5. Tickets at $10 pp went on sale today. If you still need a ticket, contact Judi DeKoning, #89. Chairing the event are Mark & Linda Kunkle. BYOB, plate, silverware, including soup spoon.
Mary Norby chairs the annual Golf Cart Parade. Date is Dec. 19 with caroling at 5 p.m., parade to leave big hall at 5:30. coffee & wassel, breads after. Decorate your golf cart & participate!

George & Sharyl Krantz will chair Christmas Day Dinner. Volunteer if you can help. Sharyl announced meal will be buffet style. Sign up please. Include in your count any guests who may be attending with you.
