Managers’ Report – Manager Jan O’Dell informed us our sister park, Ranchero Village, has several cases of COVID. Website for park is riovalleyestates.com, After Christmas, Jan O’Dell will have white poinsettias available for planting.

Dana Daves gave Secretary report in absence of Virginia Baker who hasn’t arrived at RVE yet, approved.
Sandy Olson gave Treasurer’s report, accepted. Got the larger scoop for ice machine.
Properties committee chair Lynn Stamp reports he is getting estimates for the freezer which needs sensors & wiring and the refrigerator which needs a fan motor.

Dances are scheduled for 2023 according to chairs Craig & Dana Daves. First dance will be Jan. 2 to celebrate New Year’s Eve. Each month there will be a “special theme” dance that Dana will announce. Schedules are on back wall.
Marylyn Mason & Lucy Johnson, Entertainment chairs, report Friday night shows scheduled with no cancellations The Cleckler Elementary School Children’s Choir will perform Friday, Dec. 16, 6:30 p.m. We’re asking for $5 pp. All money will be given to the school.
Marylyn chairs a Christmas Eve Social on Friday, Dec. 23. She is in need of some cookie bakers for the social….see signup sheet. A golf cart parade will be at 5 p.m. with 6 p.m. snacks in big hall. Plan to join in a “difficult” Christmas trivia game, participate in a white elephant gag gift exchange (don’t spend much!) See itinerary posted on board.
If you don’t have an RVE name tag, check with Donna Gabbert who makes these, $3 each. We encourage folks to purchase & wear them.

Our ladies LOVE a Wine Party! TY to Jan Jones who has stepped up to chair one this season. She is calling it a “Wing It Wine Party”. It will be held Thursday, Dec. 15, 2:30 p.m. Cost is $4 pp (inflation) at the door. Ladies planning to attend are asked to sign up so she has an idea how many will be attending. Bring your favorite bottle of wine & a wine glass wrapped so you can exchange it for a new wine glass. Non-wine drinkers are welcome to attend.

Dean Ricke announced Park Pizza Party will be held at Mr. Gatti’s (change from previous Peter Piper Pizza) .. cost is $8.99 which includes potato & salad bar plus beverage. We will have separate room. If we decide we don’t like it as well as Peter Piper Pizza, we can change back to Peter Piper. First Park Pizza Party will be this week .. Wed., Dec. 14, 11:30 a.m.
After December, pizza parties are held 2th & 4th Wednesday of month. Please wear your park badge.
Mark Probst takes items to Recycling Center Tuesday afternoons. Residents may drop these off at #54. Most plastics, newspapers may be included. For more info on what qualifies. contact Mark.
TY to George Morgan who will pick up your trash bags at end of your driveway if you are unable to take these to the dumpsters yourself. He does this Fridays about 9 a.m.
A Christmas Toy Drive Box will be placed in the office lobby soon. Organized annually by the Weslaco Police Dept., park residents may donate for this drive.
We voted to give $50 per couple to our managers & assistant managers.
Donna Gabbert reports Thanks to all who got their picture taken for our park pictorial album, those who were not here yet will be phtographed Jan 17th, 18th and 19th. Remember it's free to have your picture taken and put in the album. You may purchase a cd with your pictures on it for $20.00, and take them where you choose to have pictures made. The photo album will cost $20.00. Besure to bring check or cash at the time of your picture setting time.
Looking Ahead ..
Mary Norby & Ken Barnhart reminded all of the Kentucky Derby Dance Party to be held Thursday, Jan. 19. Pictures will be taken by John Norris. Del Hickey will be the bugler. Tickets at $10 pp will be available Monday, Jan. 2. Committee will be selling tickets by entire table of 8 and not individually. There will be food, horse races, much fun. Steven May will entertain. Mary showed horse table centerpieces Ken Barnhart made. One will be placed on each table & given away as door prizes. You may decorate your table if you wish. The horse races will be open for each to have a sponsor/owner for $5 each. Details will follow soon. There will be prizes for the Parade of Hats.
Our annual Craft Sale is scheduled Thursday, Feb. 2. We have a new chair, Julie Lawrence. More info will be announced soon.
The past few years a Corn Beef Dinner has been held in March, celebrating St. Patrick’s Day. Previous chair Chuck Gonnerman can give you info on this. He declines to chair so we are needing new chairperson. Don’t be afraid to step up, even if you are new. Others will help you.
All activities in Friendship Hall should be cleared with Virginia Baker on Club Secretary’s Calendar. Until she arrives in December, Dana Daves has the Calendar. Judi DeKoning posts monthly activities on back bulletin board.
