RVE CLUB MEETING –Chair Judy Nordquist called

meeting to order. We recited “Pledge to the Flag” & sang “God Bless America”. Meeting closed by singing club song.

If you’d like your blood pressure checked, Nancy Gonnerman is behind the stage (quilt room) on Mondays 8:30-9 a.m. before our morning meeting.

Managers’ Report – None today. . Website for park is riovalleyestates.com, After Christmas, Jan O’Dell will have white poinsettias available for planting.

Board Members -- Properties – George Morgan, Lynn Stamp, Jose Ponce; Finance – Vicki Davis, Janel Baker, Sandy Olson. If you have issues to present, contact any board member. They sit in a group toward the right front of Friendship Hall prior to Monday meeting.

Dana Daves gave Secretary report in absence of Virginia Baker who hasn’t arrived at RVE yet, approved.

Sandy Olson gave Treasurer’s report, accepted. Got the larger scoop for ice machine.

Dance chairs & Entertainment chairs have all set for the season.

TY to Patty Lamp & Phyllis Branstetter who served coffee & donuts today. If anyone is interested in buying the donuts for any particular Monday meeting, see chair Judy Nordquist.

Dances are scheduled for 2023 according to chairs Craig & Dana Daves. First dance will be Jan. 2 to celebrate New Year’s Eve. Each month there will be a “special theme” dance that Dana will announce. Schedules are on back wall.

Marylyn Mason & Lucy Johnson, Entertainment chairs, report Friday night shows scheduled with no cancellations The Cleckler Elementary School Children’s Choir will perform Friday, Dec. 16, 6:30 p.m. We’re asking for $5 pp. All money will be given to the school. Needing cookies.

Marylyn chairs a Christmas Eve Social on Friday, Dec. 23. She is in need of some cookie bakers for the social. A golf cart parade will be at 5 p.m. with 6 p.m. snacks in big hall. Plan to join in a “difficult” Christmas trivia game, participate in a white elephant gag gift exchange (don’t spend much!) See itinerary posted on board.

If you don’t have an RVE name tag, check with Donna Gabbert who makes these, $3 each. We encourage folks to purchase & wear them.

Donna Gabbert puts cards in office area for your signature. If you know of someone needing card due to illness or death in family, call her at 956-968-6684. This week, cards were up for: Jackie Jacobs, death of son Mitch DeGeus; Leann Millender, death of her husband Larry Millender (he was son of former resident Martha Millender)

For those interested in a non-denominational church until our church starts having services in January .. Cowboy Church of The Valley holds Sunday services at Victoria Palms main hall, 8:30 a.m. each week.

Happy Hour is held in Friendship Hall on Wednesdays, 4 p.m. Bring snacks & beverage of choice. This is a great way to meet others in our park. Newcomers should make sure they join in on Wednesday!

Ed at #281 has extra Amaryllis bulbs, want some, come get. These grow well in south Texas!

David Johnson at #93 has done our park directory for many years & we give him a big thank you! Mark Probst has stepped up to help with this project. If you have any changes to contact info, etc. you may contact Dave by completing a form available at office or from Dave.

We thank Catherine Gibbs & Janel Baker for decorating Friendship Hall windows for Christmas. TY to Linda Palermo & Debbie Stelwagen for decorating stage.

Our ladies LOVE a Wine Party! TY to Jan Jones who has stepped up to chair one this season. She is calling it a “Wing It Wine Party”. It will be held Thursday, Dec. 15, 2:30 p.m. Cost is $4 at the door. Ladies planning to attend are asked to sign up so she has an idea how many will be attending. Bring your favorite bottle of wine & a wine glass wrapped so you can exchange it for a new wine glass. Non-wine drinkers are welcome to attend.

Will be held at noon on Christmas Day. Sign up sheets on bulletin board with categories.

When you sign up, put # of people attending with you. Needing volunteers to help set up tables Christmas Eve & folks for clean-up after dinner. Would 4-5 folks volunteer to help carve the hams?

Ham is provided by the park.

Kathy Cochran announced Line Dancing will be held on Tuesdays & Thursdays 9 a.m. – not on Wednesday.

Hand & Foot is on Wednesday, 1 p.m. in card hall according o Judy Shively.

Want to Shuffle? It begins this week. Come join in the fun on Tuesday, Wednesday & Friday each week, 9 a.m. If you haven’t done this, Dave Johnson will be happy to show you how.

Cribbage is in card room Thursdays, 6:30 p.m. Needing more players.

Thursday Dealer’s Choice Poker is at 7 p.m. in back room. Bring 25 cents.

Texas Hold-Em is held in poker room, Fridays, 1 p.m. Lynn Stamp chairs. It’s a $10 buy-in & open to

all.

Head to Friendship Hall on Saturdays, 7 p.m., for Bingo. Chair is Catherine Gibbs, none on Christmas Eve.

Bill Jones leads Card Bingo Sundays, 1 p.m. in card room.

Mark Castillo announces B3 Combat Gym in Weslaco offers a 10% senior discount.

Vic Greenlee reminds golfers to join group that goes to Tierra Santa south on Westgate on Thursdays. They have standing tee times.

A “slow moving man” by the name of Dean Ricke announced Pizza Party will be held at Mr. Gatti’s (change from previous Peter Piper Pizza) .. cost is $8.99 which includes potato & salad bar plus beverage. We will have separate room. Worth a try .. many said Mr. Gatti’s is very good pizza. If we decide we don’t like it as well as Peter Piper Pizza, we can change back to Peter Piper. First Park Pizza Party will be Wed., Dec. 14, 11:30 p.m.

After December, pizza parties are held 2th & 4th Wednesday of month.

Mark Probst takes items to Recycling Center Tuesday afternoons. Residents may drop these off at #54. Most plastics, newspapers may be included. For more info on what qualifies. contact Mark.

TY to George Morgan who will pick up your trash bags at end of your driveway if you are unable to take these to the dumpsters yourself. He does this Fridays about 9 a.m.

A Christmas Toy Drive Box will be placed in the office lobby soon. Organized annually by the Weslaco Police Dept., park residents may donate for this drive.

Donna Gabbert reports a Park Pictorial Directory will be done this season. First group of pics will be taken Dec. 6-7-8. Donna

Chairman said we will elect new chairperson end of December. Be looking for people who would agree to serve.

A board member for both Finance & Properties will be selected in March 2023. These are 3 year terms.
