 RVE CLUB MEETING – Chair Judy Nordquist called meeting to order. We recited “Pledge to the Flag” & sang “God Bless America”. Meeting closed by singing club song, ”We Love Our Valley Home”.

Managers’ Report – Chair Judy Nordquist met with Nathan who said he would be present this morning. However, he is in hospital & we are hoping will be up to joining us next Monday. Website for park is riovalleyestates.com

Board Members -- Properties – George Morgan, Lynn Stamp, Mark Probst; Finance – Vicki Davis, Gordon Amos, Sandy Olson. If you have issues to present, contact any board member. They sit in a group toward the right front of Friendship Hall prior to Monday meeting.

Virginia Baker gave Secretary report. It was approved.

Sandy Olson gave Treasurer’s report, accepted.

Lynn Stamp reported for Properties. He said Clarence Moore has been doing our can crushing, is asking for volunteer to assist him. Clarence is in Lot 152.

If you don’t have an RVE name tag, check with Donna Gabbert who makes these. We encourage folks to wear these.

Donna Gabbert puts cards in office area for your signature. If you know of someone needing card due to illness or death in family, call her at 956-968-6684. No cards this week.

Ed Tice & crew will prepare pancakes, sausage, applesauce & coffee for breakfast Jan. 22 & 29, Feb. 19 & 26. The board will return with biscuits & gravy Feb. 12. Serving is 7-8:30 a.m. Bring own table service. Price is $4 pp this week.

Craig Daves, dance chair, encourages all to come enjoy tonight’s dance, 7–9:30 p.m. Diego and Edith will be with us. Admission is $7 pp. BYOB. Thanks to all who stay following morning meeting to put chairs on tables for floor cleaning. You may reserve table after 4 p.m.

Marylyn Mason urges all to attend “Redneck Revival” on Friday night. This is a comedy/music show. Program begins at 7 p.m. 50-50 draw will be held. Marylyn said she & Lucy have attended showcases to find good entertainment. She said they haven’t been impressed with the new showcase owners. Many parks have agreed it’s not been easy searching for good shows, not certain if due to COVID or what.

Some folks, even those who are vaccinated, may be concerned about spread of Covid. Feel free to wear mask to any event/activity.

Thanks to Phyllis Branstetter who served coffee & donuts prior to today’s meeting. There is a signup sheet if you wish to provide in honor of special occasion. If no one signs up, club will pay. Bring donuts by 8:15 a.m.

Phyllis Branstetter said she & George had donated the TV behind stage and will be taking it home.

A question from Neal Johnson at #15 concerned emergency vehicle entrance at the gate. We were told they have a YELP system which should open gate with their siren. Chair Judy will talk to management to be sure this is working properly.

Starting next week, chances will be sold on the queen size quilt our ladies embroidered 2 years ago. You may purchase 1 ticket for $1, 6 for $5, says Sharon Sprague. Drawing will be held Feb. 14.

Tuesday Euchre has been cancelled due to lack of interest.

Canasta on Wednesday afternoon has been cancelled. It is replaced by Hand & Foot, 1 p.m., led by Judy Shively.

Wednesday 4 o’clock Happy Hour will be held 4 p.m. Bring snacks & your own beverage choice. Would it be a good idea to have a sign up sheet so anyone wishing to set up for happy hour could volunteer? Come socialize with your neighbors .. it’s a fun time!

Chair Yoga is held after Monday morning meetings & on Wednesdays at 9 a.m. Dana Daves leads.

Couple’s Line Dancing has begun, says Judy Shively. Lessons this week are Tuesday, 10 a.m. .. but not on Thursday this week only. Do not wear tennis shoes. For more info, call Judy at #12.

Vic Greenlee invites golfers to play at Tierra Santa Thursday mornings. Numbers are growing & they may have to have signup. That’s great! There are already 3 standing tee times. Car pools leave park at 8:20 a.m.

Anyone interested in golfing at Executive Course should find their own group. Tee time is 11 a.m. We leave the park about 10:30 Friday morning, says Doug Novak. Players should record their score & turn in to Doug at #259 before Monday morning.

Would you like to hear some top gospel music? Vic Greenlee suggests you go to Bibleville in Alamo on Saturdays .. afternoon & evening shows. There is plenty of comfy seating, free will donation. Brochures are located in card room.

Kathy Cochran & Ken Barnhart chair the “Flash Back to Fun” dance party this Thursday, Jan. 20. Tickets are still available, $10 pp. You may reserve entire table or purchase single ticket. Doors open at 5:30, eat at 6 p.m. Entertainment is 7-9 p.m. with DJ Jesse who would like folks to write oral request for songs. You may decorate tables after noon on Thursday & judging will be at 3 p.m. Table clothes will be provided on all tables. Feel free to cover your table. We will provide table service, the meal (road kill?!), lemonade, tea & water. Bring other drink of choice & snacks. 50/50 tickets will be sold. Wear past costume or regular clothing.

Maxine Topel announces Thursday, Jan. 27, residents should plan to attend Bean Feed. We’ll eat at 4:30 p.m. Tickets are $3 pp. You’ll have choice of white or pinto beans. If you wish, you may bring corn bread or other food to complement the meal. Bring your own table service.

Our annual Anniversary Party will be held Sun., Feb. 13, 2 p.m. Since it wasn’t held last year, this would be for couples having been married 50-60-65-70-75 (and more) years April 1, 2020 to March 31, 2022. Dana & Craig Daves chair. There is a signup sheet.
