Newsletter Jan.24th

 RVE CLUB MEETING – Chair Judy Nordquist called meeting to order. We recited “Pledge to the Flag” & sang “God Bless America”. Meeting closed by singing club song, ”We Love Our Valley Home”.

Board Members -- Properties – George Morgan, Lynn Stamp, Mark Probst; Finance – Vicki Davis, Gordon Amos, Sandy Olson. If you have issues to present, contact any board member. They sit in a group toward the right front of Friendship Hall prior to Monday meeting.

Virginia Baker gave Secretary report. It was approved.

Sandy Olson gave Treasurer’s report, accepted.

Lynn Stamp reported for Properties. He said the can dispenser is full. Where do we take cans? TY to Ron Henderson, Dan Lawrence & Craig Daves who crushed cans this week.

TY to Harold Mack for plugging in the coffee pots prior to today’s meeting. TY to Pam Brustkern who picked up donuts; and to Patty Lamp & Bonnie Hickey who served. There is a signup sheet if you wish to provide donuts in honor of a special occasion. If no one signs up, club will pay. Bring donuts by 8:15 a.m.

From Patty Lamp: “TY to all who called to check on me & who brought food/groceries when I was down with COVID. I really appreciated all that you residents did for me.”

If you don’t have an RVE name tag, check with Donna Gabbert who makes these. We encourage folks to wear these.

Donna Gabbert puts cards in office area for your signature. If you know of someone needing card due to illness or death in family, call her at 956-968-6684. No cards this week, was suggested one be put up for Nathan.

Ed Tice & crew will prepare pancakes, sausage, applesauce & coffee for breakfast Jan. 29, Feb. 19 & 26. Ed said last Saturday there was a record .. “no complaints”!! The club board returns with biscuits & gravy Feb. 5 & 12. Serving is 7-8:30 a.m. Bring own table service. Price is $4 pp this week.

Craig Daves, dance chair, encourages all to come enjoy tonight’s dance, 7–9:30 p.m. Dave Perryman will be with us. Admission is $7 pp. BYOB. Thanks to all who stay following morning meeting to put chairs on tables for floor cleaning. You may reserve table after 4 p.m.

Marylyn Mason urges all to attend “Kai” on Friday night. Program begins at 7 p.m. Tickets are $8 at the door. 50-50 draw will be held.

Some folks, even those who are vaccinated, may be concerned about spread of Covid. Feel free to wear mask to any event/activity.

Chances are being sold on the queen size quilt our ladies embroidered a couple yrs. ago. Purchase 1 chance for $1, 6 for $5, says Sharon Sprague. Drawing will be Feb. 14.

Wed. Happy Hour is at 4 p.m. Bring snacks & your own beverage. If you would be willing to set up/clean up for Happy Hour, see signup sheet on back bulletin board.

Marylyn Mason is willing to teach who to make the table topper that Janeen Geer made a year or two ago. Anyone interested? Marylyn will get pattern.

Tomorrow ladies might like to attend a nice Quilt Show at Llano Grande Mobile Park, begins at 9 a.m. They have a café where you can enjoy lunch after.

Vic Greenlee invites golfers to play at Tierra Santa Thursday mornings. There are 3 standing tee times. Car pools leave park at 8:20 a.m.

Those interested in golfing at Executive Course should find their own group. Tee time is 11 a.m. We leave the park about 10:30 Friday morning, says Doug Novak. Players should record their score & turn in to Doug at #259 before Monday morning.

Eight golfers drove to Raymondville last week & gave the golf course there a try. It’s easy to find, about a 35 minute drive, reasonable price. Tom Benson has info.

Sharon Sprague said Stroke Prevention Tests are scheduled Wed., Feb. 9, in Friendship Hall. These will begin at noon or 12:30 p.m.

Blood Profile Tests are at 6:30 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 11, also in Friendship Hall. You need to be fasting prior to test. See signup sheets plus price list posted in both halls. An added test this year is for COVID antibodies at an additional $40. Basic screening is $20.

If you like to hear gospel music, Vic Greenlee suggests you go to Bibleville in Alamo on Saturdays, 2 & 7 p.m. shows. There is comfy seating, free will donation.

If you missed the “Flash Back to Fun” dance last week, you missed a fun party. “Thanks to all who attended & helped in any way,” say chairs Kathy Cochran & Ken Barnhart. Winner of the table decorations contest was the Gibbs table. Second place was the Ricke table & third, the Palermo table. Editor posted a few pics on Facebook & if she missed names, please forgive.

Maxine & Dick Topel are chairing Jan. 27 Bean Feed. Today is last day to get your $3 ticket. You may bring bowls & table service at 1 p.m., plan to eat at 4:30. You have choice of white or pinto beans. Bring corn bread or other food to go with your meal if you wish.

Arleta Blevins & Vickie Davis chair the upcoming Craft Show in Friendship Hall on Thursday, Feb. 3, 8 a.m. to noon. Lunch will be served .. homemade pies too.

Our annual Anniversary Party will be held Sun., Feb. 13, 2 p.m. Since it wasn’t held last year, this would be for couples having been married 50-55-60-65-70-75 (and more) years April 1, 2020 to March 31, 2022. Dana & Craig Daves chair.There is a signup sheet.
