June 21st

Today is the first day of Summer!  We are having terribly hot weather and today very very windy!
The hot tub has been drained and they will be sandblasting it. also the pool is closed!
I have been going to aqua-sizes each morning but I have friends in another park and will go over there until we can use ours.
Ken and Sue Barnhart provided donuts this morning.
Linda Palermo is quite ill. she's in the hospital and also Cathy Probst.
Dolores Mason is in re-hab, last word was she still can't get up on her own.
The kitchen is being painted! Sam Curtis, former mgr. is doing it.
We are having hamburgers on the grill this July 4th, thanks to the Curtis's and the Krantz's.

June 14th

OMG  can't believe I have another Birthday just about here. I have a friend in my T.O.P.S. Club whose Birthday is the same day and also Janice Williams who lives at 57, ( here in the Park ) all three of us born on the same day. We are going to Jason's Deli for lunch and we also asked any of our T.O.P.S. members and all park ladies to join us. It will be fun!

We got the donuts this morning.

We had several nice downpours in the last few days. So thankful, we were getting pretty dry down here. Today , quite pleasant with low of 77 and high today only 95, pretty nice with just a light breeze. Now it will  back to hotter days but that's the norm for down here.
We had a very nice Wed. get-to-gether. Lots of happy hour snacks! Which I sure don't need. Since I weigh in at T.O.P.S. every Thursday morning, it makes me control myself a little more. 😇

I took a few pictures of our newly painted Hall...

 You can see it's like an egg shell color, looks so clean and so glad they covered up the old gray paneling. Also  new lighting, LED lights, brighter and better lighting for the hall.
I keep wandering...what next?  Improvements are nice, especially after so long a time and so needed.
The hot tub is going to be sandblasted soon, it will be so nice. But  talk now is the pool will remain open, not real sure about that

We will be sending a card to Mary Cristianson, she crashed her car and has been in the hospital, soon to go to re-hab.

Thanks goes to Argos for furnishing the Friday Donuts

Several things to mention this morning,  our big hall is being painted. It's a soft off white, I haven't been in to see it yet. Craig said new lighting to go in also, our hot tub is being all redone, and the pool will be closed for a time as they need to do some cement work, you may have noticed before you step into the pool, the concrete is chipping away and cracked. The office, lobby, and card room, all thoroughly cleaned by Maria, my neighbor. By thoroughly I mean every inch cleaned and curtains washed etc. Much needed.

I understand a huge funeral for our friend bud Kraft. several from the Park attended. I so wished I could have been there, I really enjoyied them as my next door neighbors.

Yesterday Dolores Mason fell as she was getting on a chair at Yoga, she went to the hospital that afternoon, she has a cracked tail bone, but last night she said she could barely walk. this morning the ambulance came and got her. she could not walk...so will keep you informed.

This is so wonderful beyond words......our friends the Davis's celebrating their 75th wedding anniversary, here's a picture and article about them...

Wow how time flies!! Friday already!

This morning Darlene Bryant provided the donuts.I didn't make it, but went up later and seems like there was a pretty small group.
You can see from my slide show of Memorial Day , we had a really fun time. the grilled chicken was excellent, thanks to Tom Benson and help. Games were fun and challenging.

We are quite dry here. Maybe a shower to develop this afternoon, but so far it's pretty Sunny out there. Pretty darn hot here. 😎
I see Del Telfor came up for Dummy Rummy  the other day, he says he's feeling better but still quite weak. He went thru a lot with his back surgery, lots of pain.

Some of us were invited to our new neighbors there beside Darlene Bryant # 275, R.J. and Betty.
They put out a tasty lunch and had the oldies type music going, plus they have a Karoke machine and sang, and so did some of the other folks.Some country and 50's-60's music fun, fun, fun.!!!!
Played fun games too. they have a beautiful back patio and lighting, for a party!! Our street used to be called "Party Street" , maybe we will get the name revived again  😁

Bobby and I enjoyied going to Raising Canes for lunch today. It was so good, the chicken moist and very fresh, we split a meal and had to take some home yet. for Heidi of course...... While there I saw they were selling one of a series of "limited" addition puppys, these are Patriot Puppies, a non profit organization that provides high quality services to Disabled Veterans and other disabilities. there has been many of these limited addition puppys for sale, here is the one that's for sale at this time. I had to have one! The ones in the circle are just a few of the previous collectable puppys

The plush puppy program started in 2004 and since 2009, have donated over $700.00 back to local no-kill pet welfare organizations.

Bud's Obit

We miss Bud and Lois here at R.V.E. My next door neighbors!

Bobby and I  and my sister, Mickey from Jefferson, met Bud and Lois  summer before last at Thor, Iowa. My Mother and Aunt and Mickey owned the "Entertainer" restaurant, back in the 80's, it was fun to see how the restaurant  was remodeled and to enjoy a wonderful meal there. BTW it is called "Unkies" now and everyone within 40 miles knows about it

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 AM on Thursday, May 30, 2019 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Corwith. Visitation will be held from 5 - 7 PM on Wednesday, May 29, 2019 at the Corwith Community Center.

Carl "Bud" Eugene Kraft, 89, of Corwith passed away on May 26, 2019, at Hospice of Hancock County Memorial Hospital. Carl Eugene Kraft, the son of Carl F. Kraft and Martha (Freerksen) Kraft, was born on July 22, 1929 in Rural Wright County, Boone Township, on the family farm.

Bud attended school at Renwick, Iowa and also attended at Corwith, Iowa. Following his school years he joined his father on the family farm where he pursued his love of farming. The farm operation included raising corn, soybeans, cattle, hogs, and chickens. He also worked at the Ford Garage in Kanawha, Iowa and the Pioneer Cheese Factory in rural Renwick, Iowa. He farmed with his son, Paul Kraft, until his retirement in 1998, and he continued to help on the farm until his death.

Bud married Lois Jean Lundy on August 18, 1951, in Mason City, Iowa. They live on the farm until the fall of 1996 when they retired and moved to Corwith, Iowa. Bud was baptized in the Renwick Lutheran Church and confirmed in the St. John Lutheran Church in Corwith. He served his community on his church council, the Farm Service Administration Board, and the local elevator board. He had a great love for his family, and served as a role model for his many grandchildren, and never turned down a friend in need. Bud had a strong quiet faith by the way he lived and his unwavering belief in God's promise of eternal life. Bud loved sailing, John Deere Machinery, boating, card club with friends, golfing, country music, spending 40+ winters in Texas, and anything motorized.

Left to cherish Bud's memory are his wife of 68 years, Lois, son, Paul (Kim) of Renwick, daughters Kathy (Mike) Dobbs of Ames, and Julie (Ron) Eekhoff of Renwick. He is survived by grandchildren Darla (Kurt) Packard, Melissa (Jeremy) Toomsen, Stephanie (John) Sonnichsen, Bobby Jo (Ryan) Doyel, Joni (Ryan) Hanigan, Jeri (Corey) VanDeWalle, Toni (Nick) Rice, Teri (Ben) Buckner, Megan (Taylor) Jensen, Benjamin (Mallory) Dobbs, Justin (Sarah) Zimmerman, Jenna (Mike) Zimmerman, Theresa (Jack) Blong, Paula (Mike) Kruger, Crystal (Josh) Engstrom, and SueAnn (Adam) Sadler. He is also loved by 49 great grandchildren. Bud leaves behind his sister, Janice Uhl, brother, Robert (Pat) Kraft, sisters-in-laws, Darlene Divan, Joyce Zeigler and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Marlyn Mesenbrink, brothers-in-laws Bernie Mesenbrink, Perry Uhl, Lyle Divan, and Jim Zeigler.

May 24th

Good morning!

This morning Tom and Mary Lou Benson provided the donuts!
They will be here until the 1st of June.
My neighbor Maria has been busy giving our card room a complete cleaning, every inch.!!!
She already did the office and lobby area. She's very thurough
Dana is trying to decide what color to paint the walls in the big hall. Possibly a light shade of gray.
She also has had the cup holder on the East wall in the card room taken down and cleaned and painted, it sure looks good! nice and clean, and all cups will be washed.

Doesn't that look much better? Office is doing labels with your name, for cups that you wish to leave on the newly painted board
I don't know what Dana's plans are for the bulletin boards but there will be some welcome changes there too.

Can you see the bunches of bananas on these trees? I see 3 bunches. I made the picture large so you could make them out. I think they're amazing!

There's not much else to write about, the park looking great. There was some more wire put down so dogs could not get under the fence over by the Motel.
The men working out in this 95 to 100 degree heat, I don't know how they can stand it. We have had windy days and very hot weather, and it's continuing for I don't know how long.

Thursday....
I am having trouble getting on to my aol. I will still post any news from down here, but it sure is frustrating especially becuz I am paying for the service.
There is a card for Rexroads as His Brother passed away.
Del Telfor having just as much pain now as before his back surgery.  It's been  very hard
I don't have a thing else to tell you this week!! It's so quiet here in the park, which is good I guess!
Nothing bad to report!
We are having a Memorial Day Dinner. With chicken and games in the hall.

Today Daves provided the donuts

Good news my aol is back to normal, I have used aol since 2003 or so. And am familiar with it and hated to go to some other one.

Some went to Mexico the other day and had no problem getting back across, I think they said 45 min. there were a couple who said one day was a 6 hr. wait as the other ports were closed and all the traffic was diverted to Progresso.

Weather is to be hot every day mid to upper 90's, we did get a rain a couple nights ago  over an inch Denny Argo said
