RVE CLUB MEETING – Chair Judy Nordquist called meeting to order.

MANAGEMENT REPORT: Manager Dan O’Dell announced $10 per month rate increase in mobile home rent effective March 1. He thanked all for contributing in any way, such as mysterious man who did work in #3 stall & people who have volunteered to do painting. Appreciation was given to chairpersons for events. Dan said, “Things happen like clockwork in our park.” Website for park is riovalleyestates.com
Board Members -- Properties – Ron Zoeller, Lynn Stamp, Mark Probst; Finance – Sandy Novak, Gordon Amos, Sandy Olson. If you have issues you’d like to present or discuss, you may contact them.
Treasurer Gordon Amos gave his report & it was approved.
Mark Probst gave Properties report. Grease trap has been installed in sink on north side of kitchen. Directions are posted nearby. Sink on left is where you rinse food off dishes as that flows into grease trap. Middle sink is for washing & last sink for rinsing. Ice machine needing cleaning & we have service contract on that. Concerning chairs, there is difference of opinion on which are best. Seems we can’t satisfy everyone. 😊 If you see one you like, for example in another park, you could either bring it here to try or get info on it.
Dance chair Craig Daves reports tonight’s music is a favorite of many, Diego & Edith. Cost is $7 pp. Free popcorn, soda pop for sale, 50-50 draw.

FREE MOVIE this Thursday is “Send Me No Flowers” starring Doris Day, Rock Hudson & hilarious Tony Randall. With Valentine’s Day on Friday, we should show a movie with love & laughter. Movie starts 7 p.m. There will be popcorn, variety of ice cream treats, sodas, water for sale before & during intermission.
Denise Cheek invites residents to enjoy potluck before Thursday movie. Eat at 5:30, bring dish to share.
Entertainment chair Marylyn Mason thanks residents for support. Rick McEwin was enjoyed by all who came last week. He sang mostly requests the 2nd half of his show. Come this Friday for “Rusty Rockers”. This is music from 50-60-70 & oldies. There will be chairs for listeners, plus tables for those who may wish to dance. Cost is $8 pp. 50-50 draw, ice cream treats for sale at intermission. Popcorn available!!
Thanks to Marvin & Mary Weeder and Fred & Verleen Fehringer who are serving coffee & donuts on Mondays in February.
Donna Gabbert puts up cards in office area for your signature. If you know of someone needing card due to illness or death in family, call her at 956-968-6684. Cards sent this week were for Kathy Baustian, mother died; Millie Ricke, hand surgery; Irene Quail, knee surgery; Mary Hennigar, fell at home, still at Knapp hospital; Diane Branstetter, mother died. A card has gone up for Sharyl Krantz who had surgery.
Breakfast continues on Saturday mornings, $3 pp, 7-8:30 a.m. This week .. pancakes & sausage served by Ed/Sharon Tice & committee.

Happy 75th Wedding Anniversary to

the party in their honor last Thursday afternoon.

Eight couples were honored yesterday on special wedding anniversaries. Honorees were: Dave & Kathy Cochran (50); Craig & Dana Daves, Ron & Lois Henderson, Ed & Charilyn Hover, Chuck & Nancy Gonnerman, Marv & Mary Weeder (all 55); Gordon & Joyce Amos (60) and Ray & Margaret Davis (75). Congratulatons to all!! Sandy Novak did an outstanding job as emcee with some fun questions for each couple. John Norris was on hand to take pictures. We enjoyed special music by April Walling.

Looking Ahead:

Learn about AED & basic CPR next Tuesday, Feb. 18, 1:30 p.m. when Richard Stubbs, a paramedic from Weslaco Fire Dept. gives instruction. He’ll talk about this at next Monday’s meeting.

Linda Palermo chairs Feb. 20 Veterans’ Dinner with meal at noon. Menu is chicken plus your favorite pie. Doors open at 11:15, not before please. Table service is provided. Cost is $10 pp. Final day for ticket sales is Feb. 17. This event is OPEN to all. Raffles & 50-50 draw tickets are $1 ea., 6 for $5. Theme is USO Show. Proceeds will go to Camp Corral.

We’ll remember RVE residents who passed away in 2019 at 8:45 a.m. before Feb. 24 morning meeting. The theme of Feb. 27 dance is Mexican Fiesta according to chair Kathy Cochran. Tickets at $10 pp or $80/table are being sold beginning today. Gather your friends; put one person in charge of money to make it easier on ticket sellers. You may purchase individual tickets if you wish. Table coverings & table service are provided. BYOB & cups. Prizes will be given for best decorated tables. Doors open at 5 p.m. Menu includes charro beans as appetizer, taco salad, dessert. Fred Goldsberry will play.

The ROPA Style Show will be held in big hall Friday, March 13, 1 p.m. You may model some “treasure hunt” bargains you have from ROPA, thrift store, garage sale, etc. Men as well as women can participate. Chair Pat Printy who “frequents” ROPA almost weekly has items you may model if you just stop by at #210. If you’d like to help, see sign up sheet. An announcement of contest will be made next Monday.
