March 14th newsletter

RVE CLUB MEETING – Chair Judy Nordquist called meeting to order. We recited “Pledge to the Flag” & sang “God Bless America”. Meeting closed by singing club song. Accompanist – Cathy Probst

Invocation – April Walling, ending with “The Lord’s Prayer”

Secretary – Virginia Baker

Treasurer – Sandy Olson

Notes from Chairperson Judy: “We will hold our last Monday meeting of this season on April 4. We are needing to find a new person to do Monday morning Blood Pressure readings in the fall. Any nurses interested?”

Managers’ Report – None today. Website for park is riovalleyestates.com. It was mentioned the Park has received 2,000 ink pens .. you are welcome to stop by & pick up a pen.

Board Members -- Properties – George Morgan, Lynn Stamp, Mark Probst; Finance – Vicki Davis, Gordon Amos, Sandy Olson. If you have issues to present, contact any board member. They sit in a group toward the right front of Friendship Hall prior to Monday meeting.

Virginia Baker gave Secretary report. Maxine Topel corrected minutes that the new vacuum cleaner is stored in closet behind right side of stage; she has the key.

Sandy Olson gave Treasurer’s report, accepted.

Mark Probst reported for Properties Committee. ICE MACHINE IS WORKING! The problem was someone turned the water off. He explained features & cost if we decided to lease a machine. 1-2-3 year terms are offered & Mark recommended 2 year lease. Cost would include $465 prior to set up, set up fee of $310, monthly cost of $155. After the 2 year period, we could lease a new machine if we choose. Lease would include 24/7 service which we do not now have. Warranty has run out. When asked why we don’t set up machine INSIDE, he said we would need drain & electricity, plus it is noisy. This was tabled & will be discussed again.

Park owner Walter Piper was with us this morning. He said owners would give $1,000 toward ice machine project. Among his comments: “We have turned the corner with COVID.” He introduced his son Todd Piper who will be taking over much of what Walter has done for years. Walter added, “I’m sorry I haven’t come to see you as often, due to my wife’s health. You are here for fun & to enjoy life as best you can. Canadians will be back. We will build. To save cost of fuel for traveling, ‘6-6er’ folks may leave their unit for summer at no charge. We bought 2 generators, one for small rec hall, 1 for pool & part of big hall. If you are heading north, I am praying for cold weather there so you stay longer! RVE is still the friendliest park in The Valley! Todd & I will be here all week if you have any questions.” When chair Judy asked why managers do not give weekly report at Monday meetings, Walter said he would ask them why they do not attend.

TY to Patty Lamp & Phyllis Branstetter who served coffee & donuts today. There is a signup sheet if you wish to provide donuts in honor of a special occasion. Give your name to Sandy Olson & your name will be announced. If no one signs up, club pays the $30 cost. Bring donuts by 8:15 a.m.
